Try shielding the box with good copper tape. I really like your work/video's!
@dereksgc Жыл бұрын
shielding it can make it worse in this case, the entire box can start to act as an RF cavity and cause feedback and oscillation issues with the LNA stages, its why the RF shield of the LNB has such intricate patterns on the inside

Amazing work around that black magic of X-band! Just some quick ideas (it's past 2am now): - you have too much of 10GHz running around - I especially fear that coax is f-ing things up. Is it 50 or 75 ohms? How lossy at 10GHz? - are you *sure* you know how that mixer works? Do you tap in at the right place? - have you isolated the old filter from the newer LNB? Can it possibly still affect it?

Coax is rated for it, and mixer is tapped properly, the old filter of the Ku-band LNB is bypassed and the X-band is injected directly into the mixer. I think in my case the biggest issue is the LNA stage, with a proper amplifier I could probably just use this mixer

i replacevl the xtal in a normal lnb against a tcxo on a small PCB same size as the original xtal ..unsolder xtal, glue in pcb and solder gnd 6v and signal with 3 short jumpers..stable as hell

One man used aliexpress lnb and modified it to operate at 10ghz by adjusting LO, dont really know how, but it worked, not so good as all ku band waveguide things was remain intact with no modification

Would it be possible to modify a C-band LNB?
@t0nito11 ай бұрын
What about that LNB on your big-ass satellite dish? Maybe that would give it enough gain to decode an image?
@dereksgc11 ай бұрын
Yeah it would, but then it would impossible to track the satellite, on 8 GHz the tracking requires very high precision

@@dereksgc oh makes sense, make you can build a heavy duty satellite rotor for it 😀
