Just wanted to say I picked up Catherine House because of you and could not put it down. I started it one morning before work and ended up reading it on my phone in every spare second at work that day. I was so intrigued the entire time, and I loved the ending!

I guess I really need to get Song of Achilles. The Butterfly Garden was bizarre & haunting (I did not continue with the series) Looking back at my 2020, I loved classics like Dune, Call of the Wild, Lolita, Ethan Frome. And 5 stars to Leviathan Wakes (read the first 4 books in the Expanse series), Shattered Gears (the 5th and final book in a series that I loved) My most surprising reads - Big Maria by Johnny Shaw & All the Animals in that Country by Laura McKay .

Omg completely agree about Beach Read. I loved it for soo many reasons, but my favorite thing was Gus. He's my aged like fine wine emo king. I adore him. I'm never into the "bad boy macho man" trope so seeing a very sensitive but dark artistic male love interest? HOT af

I also read The Black God's Drums this year and it was so so so good. The steampunk/mythos mixed so well and the characters were instantly lovable! I am so glad you also loved it so much. soooooooo now I have to go order The Butterfly Garden, it sounds too good!! Yes The Song of Achilles! I cry every time. If you haven't read her short story Galatea I highly recommend it!

I needed to comment on this because I bought The Butterfly Garden because of your wrap-up where you talked about it and I LOVED it! The ending was a bit iffy for me (the final reveal, specifically), but it was one of the BEST books I've read this year. It felt like an episode of Criminal Minds in a novel. (And I'm on your page about finishing/continuing the series!)
