But why do Kikuyus bring their mothers into their matrimonial homes? This is a taboo in communities coming from the western part of Kenya and I now understand why. These cases are quite many in central part of Kenya. Imagine your mother being only 18 years older than you while your husband 12 years older than you. By the time you're married at age 22, your mother is 40 while your husband is 34. Somebody at 34 & 40 are basically rikas or age mates. Bringing age mates together under one roof is just a good recipe for disaster. Worse case is when the mother maintains herself properly. Kindly ladies, women who are in the range of 40 to 55yrs are still attractive, keep them away from your husbands.

It's taboo in almost all African cultures to put oneself in compromising situations with parents in law - from sharing a back seat in a vehicle to sleeping under the same roof

This is the saddest story. I’m so sorry. It’s a high time in Africa we learn that it’s ok to cancel toxic parents. Yes, you’ll not get a curse for canceling such a toxic mother. A mother who sleeps with your ex who almost killed you is beyond toxic. Sacrificing everything even your son’s livelihood to take care of such a mother is not wisdom. Suipan is an Angel, I hope she canceled that woman. Bringing you to life doesn’t merit you to give them everything regardless of their character. May God take Martha places, she’s very sweet and lovely.
