I don’t really think he loved her in that sense, she definitely reminded him of her dad, so she became his second chance at having a relationships with him. He punished gang jae for assaulting her, but he also let it happen, he said it himself that he thought it would happen eventually. He tells her to kill the person who killed her father, almost like he knew she would find out eventually. Although they have chemistry together, the signs point to a teacher- student relationship, not father daughter either.

We have our own interpretation but no one can change my mind that Mujin loved her. The ending gave so many clue. He had so many chances to kill her given that she was weak from fighting but Mujin, whenever Jiwoo falls, screams "Stand up!" and "Pick one vital area and stab me!". Even before that, he was ready to die. That's why his lawyer left and said the gang is done because he knew her boss, he knew from his eyes that he was willing to end it all because of Jiwoo. Not to mention the chamomile tea😭 Now, he wasn't perfect, damn he is a beast but the story showed that even he was capable of loving. Their chemistry won't let me sleep for days after watching it coz dang it was so strong, the chemistry was so strong
@akkk55982 жыл бұрын
He did love her. Idk if he had romantic feelings for her or if it was just platonic. Taeju told Mujin that if things get messy he has to kill Jiwoo and Mujin was like "yea, sure". Taeju has been by Mujins side for years, he knew him too well to belive that lie. He understood that Mujin got attached to the girl and he wouldn't be able to kill her, so Taeju tried to do that himself (but we all know how that went :)) Mujin opened up to Jiwoo about the pain that he was feeling (when they met at the temple), something we haven't seen him do with anyone else. He s impulsive when it comes to her because he doesn't like to think about his feelings, so he denies everything until she s in danger and has to flip things upside down to save her. Mujin couldn't live knowing that she was gonna hate him forever so he decided to let her take revenge and kill him. He loved someone who s only goal was his own death. Tragic but he kinda deserved it.

yeah, since jiwoo always come to him everytime they meet up right? first, when jiwoo brought her father’s culprit picture to liberates and ask mujin for vengeance (where she slapped jiwoo and commanded her to stab him) second in the pub when mujin brought up jiwoo’s new identity after she got beaten up hard & almost got r*ape by gangjae, third when they stayed up for hours & then there’s this chamomile tea thing at the port, fourth when jiwoo tried to save mujin from gangjae so she shot him (gangjae) and mujin had the chance to went away. and last the temple when he waited for her to arrive. it was vivid through his emotions that somehow jiwoo was his own safe person & that mujin trusted her wholeheartedly despite that in the end he is aware that there’s a probability that rivalry between them will occur. now it was clear to me when he said “she should have come to me” it brings so much emotion.

She was almost gonna be raped by Gangjae's friend, not to mention that his friend was sexually assaulting her and touched her boobs and making such comments to her. There was no indication that Gangjae wanted to do that to Jiwoo too, but he definitely wanted to harm her at the time. She can be traumatised by that and getting intimate with someone after going through that can make it seem a bit hesitant at first. Or just a simple fact that she’s never been open and intimate to someone like this before. I mean I can’t deny that I did think that some tension was going on from Mujin's side. not so much on Jiwoo's so I don't think she was emotionless for that reason. But that’s just my opinion 😊

@genie1212 жыл бұрын
I’ve concluded that he did have a soft spot for her because he was consistently testing her loyalty for him and she always came through. Even when he was severely injured and took refuge at the temple, he asked her to come to him- and you could see emotionally he was at his lowest but was pleased to see her. But later, he feared that she would find out the truth and was ready to kill anyone in his path from exposing the truth. The ending was really intense when they came face to face. Because essentially she was physically and emotionally fighting the very individual who trained her.

What i like about them is that you can see he really respected her (her determination,intelligence, strength...) and cared for her! Damn they had so much chemistry!! Great video and choice of song!!
@ann.1782 жыл бұрын
the entire importance of having pildo in the show was for her to return to her state of being a 'monster' and actually kill mujin. i definitely loved mujin despite everything, because his twisted sense of living was actually understandable. i never really saw anything more than a close father-daughter like relationship between them or something of the sort. it was also quite evident that he cared for her, in his own twisted sort of way. i think he just got caught up in that way of life with so many persons coming through and ending up betraying him that he trained her himself to get revenge on the police who sent in someone who he really grew to love and trust by sending her in himself, and for her to kill him instead of the police ever getting a hand on him. all in all, all their performances were absolutely stellar.

Unpopular opinions saying shipping Jiwoo and Mujin is wrong on so many levels. As a new fan of Park Hee Soon who loves this drama so much and still no where near getting over it i had to say something. He killing her dad doesn’t mean he can’t care/have feelings for her no matter what that feeling is. He definitely cared for her a lot, and she cared for him too. He smiled twice throughout the series, once was with her, once with her dad. The way he looked at her and saved her from time to time, she saved him and worried so much about him as well. Remember when she knew he was the target? She was so worried. When she run to the gym where the Dongcheonpa guys were attacked? She was so worried and asked Pildo if Mujin’s dead. Also the way she flashed back all the memories with him and showed her pain when finding out the truth, she must’ve trust him so much that she felt so hurt. Before knowing the truth, she trusted and cared about him so much as well. So just talking about their chemistry alone without he-killing-her-dad, they’d make a great couple and I’m not even sorry that i ship them. Also, yes, Choi Mu Jin is a crime boss, he’s not a saint nor a good person, but he’s not a demon. From Mujin’s perspective, Cha Giho was the bad guy who sent a spy to his organization and then the spy became his most trusted brother that i can see he is filled with guilt after killing him. But have to look at things from his point of view as well. He’s the leader of an organization, they have rules. If he doesn’t kill the traitor then what will his subordinates think? That they can do whatever they want and get away with it? Not saying it’s right, just that it’s understandable. About killing Jiwoo, he had more than one chance. But he never did. He literally trained her knowing that one day she will come to kill him. He didn’t show us but i think subconsciously he feels guilty that’s why he took her in and trained her. At the end, if he really wanted to, he also could’ve killed her. She was already injured, and he was totally fine but she killed him? You might not see it, it’s not that obvious, but i feel, and i know I’m not the only one who feels this way - he wanted her to kill him. He’d rather die in her hands than lost her completely (when she turned to the police). The relationship between these two is no ordinary relationship, and with him killing her dad it’s wrong, but their chemistry and the way they cared for each other, it’s undeniable. So yes, this doom ship does exist, I’m not sorry I’m on it, and I’m not even sorry that i like CMJ the way he is. He’s my favorite villain so far ☺️

I agree with this so much. Although I wouldn't go as far as thinking they'd be together as a couple, like others do. I just wished they had a happy ending. Maybe they could have ended up forgiving each other. Then maybe continue their relationship as close friends. Then maybe Mujin could fake his own death and live in that beach house he bought for Jiwoo, and Jiwoo would just visit him there occasionally. Haha! I'm just thinking about any other happy ending, because the actual ending was so painful. My heart still aches for the characters, I don't even understand how I got so invested on them this much. I thought it would be possible, had Mujin not insisted on pushing Jiwoo to kill him. I thought there was a chance that Jiwoo would eventually forgive him when Jiwoo decided to go to the police instead. But he was just so mad that Jiwoo hesitated. He just wanted to die in her hands, to atone for killing his trusted friend.

I agree! As much as I love his character as Choi Mu-Jin here, I really hope Park Hee-Soon maintaining this kind of image just like you said... with all this style & beard because he really fits with this kind of look. I kinda dissapointed he didn't maintaining this image after this drama ended. I believe I'm so into his character as Choi Mu-Jin rather than his usual self as Park Hee-Soon. Well, did you get what I'm trying to saying? It's kinda weird huh to love this character more than the actual actor himself? Haha... 😅

I believe the only reason why munjin was so fixated on the idea of her getting the revenge is because that would keep her close to him. The only reason why jiwoo was ever associated with him was because of the 'revenge'. That was the only bridge between both of them. When he said to taeju that if she wants to take her revenge 'let her'. I can't say if it's the 'love' love we are talking about but he definitely felt something for her which exceeds more than a father daughter relationship. He practically had no point in letting her be always so close to him, if he not actually wanted her to stay by him. As a powerful mob boss like he is, he practically could achieve all his tasks even with jiwoo. But he deliberately choose jiwoo because he wanted her. The thought of jiwoo forgetting about the revenge and focussing on moving on with her life scared him. Yes it actually scared him, he saw Pildo as a bridge breaker to the revenge which was again the only way they were 'together' hence he killed him. He felt so deep feelings for her and until the very end he waited for her. As mafia boss he had all the options and chances to move out but he wanted to see her. No matter if it was for the last time ❤

The guy still has it at 50! He's really hot! I hated how he had a bad ending (even when he was a villain) We all knew he was just lonely. I don't ship them romantically. It felt more like, he was attached to her as a relative. Like what he had said:" The moment I saved you from those thugs, your life belonged to me" He basically had the mindset that he had adopted her. In those short years, they formed a bond even when it was form out of a lie, they still established a relationship that was genuine. They had their night out conversations, and we could see how they leaned onto each other. Like how Jiwoo cared for him and gave him a chamomile tea, like how a daughter takes care of a dad. We also saw how both got teary-eyed in the end when they were killing each other. Mujin kept hesitating to kill her. What a waste, but lessons are lessons. He had to pay the price.

Sad ending jiwoo's father betrayed Mujin when Mujin trusted him the most. The anger suddenly blast when he finds out that the person whom he trust betrayed him for their own gain. Mujin could kill Jiwoo the first time he seen her but nope he choose to teach and care for Jiwoo for revenge that turns out to be for himself. In the end, Mujin die for another betrayal from 2 people he trusted. He accept Jiwoo because his guilty for the death of her father and allow her to learn how to revenge But Mujin also betrayed Jiwoo for making Jiwoo believed that the person kills her father is a police man.

I respect everyone's opinions, but I also feel like we should not be normalizing whatever it was that they had as a purely father-daughter thing. There are other dramas that portray such a bond well, like Gihun and Saebyeok from Squid Game - you could feel the progression from rivalry to friendship and that G felt a paternal pull towards S, especially because he already had a daughter of his own to compare her to. Another great example is Tunnel with a father-daughter pair who didn't know they were related. It's fine if you see Mujin and Jiwoo as dad and daughter but just know that real fathers and daughters don't share long, intense eye contact and the strange tension that they did in the show (especially from Mujin's side). If someone you know has those weird vibes with their kid / parent then please call the police or a psychiatrist. 💀
@pnyn992 жыл бұрын
Thank you for this cmt. Some people just don’t respect others’ opinions. I understand that those people didn’t see the tension between the two which is obvious but I can’t understand why they are telling the two have father-daughter relationship and forcing us to believe that under the video that ships them. It’s like they’re convincing themselves.
@whyioughtta66522 жыл бұрын
@@pnyn99 Yep. I keep seeing some people who dislike the ship call those who support it weird, but the irony is that claiming what these two had was purely platonic is also not that better. People need to know that regardless how they choose to view it, father figures aren't supposed to stare at their daughters the way Mujin looks at Jiwoo. The fact is, the subtext behind their actions support it: from Jiwoo intentionally leaving lipstick marks on the tumbler to vomiting by the road when she discovered the truth about him, from Mujin punishing Gangjae for touching her despite only knowing her for a week to him looking worried to see Pildo getting closer to Jiwoo + buying a house based on one picture of two chairs facing the sea. It's one thing to encourage the grooming of minors; it's another thing entirely to delve into the intricacy and depth of feeling between these specific characters. That's my opinion at least. I found their relationship to be the high point of the show; it complements the cool physical actions with human weight.
@pnyn992 жыл бұрын
@@whyioughtta6652 when Mujin brought Jiwoo to Dongcheon gang, she’s still a minor. It’s right. But at that time, they had not developed any feelings yet. Like you said, he only knew her for a week. I think the thing with Gangjae is mostly about his pride as the leader of the gang. Gangjae tried to kill the person that Mujin himself brought there and they also said that in the series. Besides, Mujin never really showed or told Jiwoo his feelings towards her. We, viewers, see this through his eyes or his actions. And I don’t think he’d ever confess. His intention for training her clearly has nothing to do with romantic or sexual relationship although it is complicated with revenge and being avenged. So, it can’t even be said as grooming in my point of view.
@whyioughtta66522 жыл бұрын
@@pnyn99 I agree with you. I mentioned the grooming because that's what most people who are against the pairing would use as a reason, but like you said, there is no evidence that the relationship began with such intentions and Mujin's feelings grew gradually as he got closer to her. So my stance is that I believe most Mujin-Jiwoo shippers are drawn to the ship because of the complexity in emotion between the two characters, rather than because they like "pedophilic" relationships as some people have accused. Though I do believe that him punishing Gangjae had to do with more than just pride; he didn't do it because Gangjae tried to kill her (G never planned to as he knew the rules; he thought the other thing wouldn't get him punished probably because there's no mention of it + they're all men so he thought Mujin would give him a pass). He did it because Gangjae tried to r*pe her. That changes things a little, as it shows that he accommodates her to fit into his gang. She's the first female trainee; the fact that Mujin was willing to recognise her reality as a woman and expel another trainee who has been there longer for simply *attempting* to hurt and humiliate her speaks volumes. Note that even Taeju was shook, probably because he had never seen Mujin get so protective over a would-be initiate, and afterwards went to Jiwoo to convince her to leave the gang. I left a long comment on another page why I think he did that, but to make it short, Taeju was aware that Mujin was experiencing some kind of rebound after killing Donghoon which prompted him to take Jiwoo in just days after. The part about training her to become a spy was made up later by Mujin as justification; he had many determined trainees who were dying to prove themselves to him if he wanted an agent + he would know from the start that training the daughter of your victim who seeks revenge is a bad move for his future. But he recklessly went for it due to him needing someone to replace the hole Donghoon left behind and Taeju witnessed it all quietly, unable to voice it out. His aggression towards Jiwoo was meant to intimidate her to leave on her own will, probably out of pity. And, in my opinion, because he was able to sense where this was going in a few years time.

@@whyioughtta6652 Some people are saying that is father-daughter chemistry and they are insulting us, shippers, by claiming that they’re definitely right and we’re weird. I mean, who said and confirmed that to them? Can’t they just respect other people’s point of views. If I have to be as mean and narrow as them, I’d say they certainly have too little emotional intelligence to see the chemistry the writer wanted to let us think openly and see differently which is too obvious for us.
