ken loach is the best film director from a uk sense he builds things from the source and embellishes ,and enhances but NEVER POLISHES. that would be a trait better left to the use film industry .thanks ken or as colin welland might say" ken BLOODY loach"

i like mike leigh too ,however he lost a golden opportunity in topsey turvey to give us more g&s considering the trouble he took to research the subject matter, dvd 2 should have been full performances to help fund the film, which sadly was under appriciated.

Love Mike Leigh. His movies move me tremendously. I feel Loach's films are more distant, whereas Leigh gets right inside your head and heart.

Thank you, John, I appreciate that. The first Mike Leigh film I ever saw was Secrets and Lies, and I was moved tremendously! I then had to see everything he ever did. I got to watch him in conversation with the Curator of the British Museum at Yale University last summer, as they discussed Mr. Turner. He was wonderful. I was a New Yorker for many years, and we know not to go nuts when we see famous people, but I ran up to him to tell him how much his films mean to me. I was nearly crying! I would love to read your blog. Thank you so much for offering.

Well, I can tell you, the crowd at Yale adore him, and the packed house is a good indication that he has a following here on the east coast of the US. Had I not been a fan, it is unlikely that I would not have been made aware of the WONDERFUL work of Lesley Manville. My WORD, she is a brilliant actress. I will definitely catch your blog. Thank you so much for sharing it!

Did you watch the entirety of the documentary? Ricky Tomlinson collected that award on behalf of Ken Loach and held onto it for a humourous punchline, that's it, that's all your irritation amounted to.
