I suddenly remember this ahjussi. He sell Kebab at Namdaemun and I once did ask him his assistance. In the past when I visit Namdaemun, my friends and me get lost and I cannot even contact my friends. I went to buy Kebab at this ahjussi store and I ask him if I could borrow his phone to call me friend. And he is so generous and lend me his phone. He even help me to try call my friends so many times. I am so thankful to find such a generous man like him. I hope ahjussi will have a great life and happy always. Thank you for helping me.

I honestly really admire Ilaaf, but it is very unfair that she has to do so much by herself in the household, without any help of her other brothers. You can't expect a girl to do the household, cook, raise her young brothers and still also do well in school. She is the oldest, so naturally she has to do the most, but the other brothers aren't too young to wash the dishes for example.

@Ladybear Aresha I hate these statements too . Your so luckely , in my family its not like that. Me , my mum and my sisters have to do all and the mans are doing nothing. The wife have to do everything and what the mans duty is , is just going to work and buy food.

Yeah but in Islam an man should be a great help to woman and their wives. Woman are actually highly respected in Islam. This is just their culture and how they see it. Please don’t mix culture up with religion because people tend to and they get the wrong message of Islam when they are really just following their cultural ideas. I’m a Muslim hijab woman and I want to marry a man who does house work as much as I do. It should be equal. But I have ocd so I’ll probably do most myself lmao. But I want a man who is willing to do it and will.

Especially for this Muslim family knowing they are living in non Muslim country and many attacks happen to Muslims in non Muslim countries They have the right to be scared for their daughter. So much discrimination coming to states in the 70s was hard, but we have so many more privileges in the States. I love this family. I hope Koreans shows a lot of love, support, and encouragement to make their life easier. We need more exposure of all ethnic groups, nationalities living equally and in harmony no matter where we are.

Before people make it a Muslim thing -NO, WOMEN DON'T HAVE TO BE ACCOMPANIED BY MEN TO GO OUT IN ISLAM. It's more of a cultural thing, and really endorsed by traditional patriarchal societies where men are the heads of the house. Also, families want to protect the women cause believe it or not society is still harassing women on the daily and it is safer to travel together rather than alone. Even in Western countries, walking out alone as a woman is scary af because you don't know what'll happen and when it'll happen, so walking in a group or with someone else is always a safety measure.
@jenniek9827 жыл бұрын
??? Your point? It's men in general. Because when it comes to violence and crimes against women, race and ethnicity aren't a factor. It's wrong either way. Also, *has, not 'have', and you don't need a comma after 'kids'.

I'm Muslim Iraqi girl living in Germany and I can relate to them so much! I love the family already (especially the mom!). To everyone who thinks "oh poor girl she can't go out" - either the subs were wrong/incomplete or you just don't get it. Let me explain, in Iraq in some parts girls don't go out alone because the parents want to protect their daughters from harassment on the streets! The mom told her daughter "either go with one of your siblings or with your older sister" (which she doesn't have but she used that as an explanation that it's not about girls but more about GIRLS ALONE) This family will soon learn that in Korea that's not the case and everything is fine.

Mason mason Darling, no. I think you came here to release hate.. anyways I will assure you that ISLAM means PIECE. "If man kills one person, it's as if he killed all human kind" and vice versa. This is what Muslims should follow. If you're referring to ISIS then I may tell you with confidence: ISIS is the biggest bullshit - and it's created by some western countries and zionists to weaken the Middle East (oil rich countries). If you're interested in knowing more about this, I'll be pleased to help.

+Logen Bogen My comment was hateful? What I said is absolutely true, there are NO restrictions listed in the Koran that restrict women from walking independently. My comment actually supports human rights for Muslim women.

I feel like Ilaaf feels out of place (in school at least?) because she's two grades below people her age in Korea but she shouldn't let that get to her! I also went to high school in a foreign country (France) and I was put in a class two grades below people my age because I was previously in a different educational system (Algeria) and I arrived at the end of the school year. I was really depressed at first and embarrassed because of it. I felt like I was a failure even though I wasn't put in this class because of my own academical performance but because of the two countries' different systems. But at the end of it, I am glad it happened. I made friends with some of the 'awesomest' people on Earth! However, I understand that Korea's age hierarchy makes it hard for her to make friends with people that aren't her age. Her parents are quite strict too so she can't even go out without one of her brothers' presence but it's kinda sad! Even though I never visited Iraq, I can somehow understand that the environment there isn't that good for (unmarried) young women, I understand the parents' strictness (since she's also their only daughter) and their need to maintain their traditions but they seriously need to adapt to Korea's lifestyle and balance it with their own Iraqi ways (was that understandable?). I think she'd feel better in an international school but I don't think it's something doable now since the family is financially unstable. Anyway, I hope she can enjoy her life as a student after graduating high school! Students in universities are diverse and of all ages! Focusing on her education must be her top priority because she can't just get married and become a stay at home wife, that would be too sad! Especially since she has the chance to do so as she now lives in Korea! Anyway, I just pulled an all-nighter and I feel like I'm getting lost with this comment. Ilaaf, fighting ^^ I wish you the best!

I just don’t get why Ilaf can’t live her life just the way she wants without her parents telling her to bring her brothers or asking why she is late? I understand that it is difficult and not safe for women to go out in Iraq but she lives in Korea now . Why can’t the same rule be applied for her brothers ? Oh I forgot , just because they are men that means that they can do anything. This mindset that women need to be protected and safe and therefore they have to stay home is really common in middle eastern countries. How about teaching men to behave in a respectful way ? Unfortunately it’s not that easy and requires a lot of changing....
@NUR-lw2nm4 жыл бұрын
They can teach man to behave in respectfully way but that won't ensure their daughter safety. Because they can only teach their son not others son. For me it is the best they can do for their daughter. At one point when she leave home and live on her own, their parents will give them that freedom. And believe me, she will missed the "overprotective" act of her parents. In Islam, women will be protected by men from the birth to their dead. It will never end.
