That's an interesting thought. I have the dm202 and struggle with the board sizing. Fortunately Tomlov sell those arms separately. Also plugging it into a huge tv is clever.

That’s a really nice scope! It fixes all the gripes I have with mine. I know it’s not that expensive but it’s still a bit out of my price range at the moment. Maybe next year…

Nice review! I wonder if it can use polarized lighting/accomodate polarization filter? Very useful in reading chip markings and microcracks in the PCBs.

A polarising filter can help against the glare. Most of them can be turned "on and off".

Good thing the HDMI output doesn't have the GUI overlay, just the camera image. I've seen a few other microscopes that for some reason have the GUI on the HDMI output as well, and I think it looks better on the big screen without it. Also I find most of the time you don't even need to see it. Only if you're changing an option in the menu, which presumably is set and forget. With those physical buttons for control, it would be better if the GUI disappeared from the main screen after some time and just showed the microscope image.

Thanks for the review. I am looking to buy . Maybe I missed it, but I will ask what size screen, 8 inch or 10 inch. I'm a little worried about the image quality. Because the resolution is only 1280 x 800P. And I would also like opinions on Auto focus or manual focus? There is a considerable price difference, and the auto focus is not that fast. Thank you in advance
@MarkFixesStuff4 сағат бұрын
Hi! Sorry for the delay, I am moving house. This is the 8 inch, I think the screen quality is really good in my usage. Autofocus seems slow if you are watching the video, but it's much quicker than manually focussing. AF is a bit of a pain if you are working, but very handy for baord inspection. I put manual focus on for soldering SMD chips and auto focus on for moving around PCBs for inspection. Hope this helps.

@MarkFixesStuff So which one should I choose? Manual focus or Auto focus? Thank you very much for the detailed answer@@MarkFixesStuff

Not keen on auto focus, when you work it interferes too much. So I bought the non auto focus with larger base

Yeah. I’ve turned it off now. Is handy for board inspection but a pain for soldering as you say.
@jonskitch808227 күн бұрын
@@MarkFixesStuff yeah for inspection, it might be fine - the noise puts me off. I saved few bucks on non auto focus.

I think this was answered at the end of the video, but it will display on the built-in screen and output over HDMI or USB at the same time? This is an issue I have with my current Tomlov scope.

@@jetsonian the HDMI output and inbuilt screen both work at the same time. The manual says that the webcam function also works simultaneously but I’ve not tried that yet!

I'm a bit gutted. It looks like a great bit of kit with good reach. Exactly what I want. But I was hoping it would come in around the £100 price. But it's a little expensive for the occasional use it would get from me. Thank you for your review and heads up about the product.

@@MarkFixesStuff but isn't there already a reset on the other side ? Between 5v & output ? I'm talking about the unmarked hole between the other 2 ports!
@MarkFixesStuffАй бұрын
@@Keeping_IT_Simple ah I see. That’s not anything. Just a hole that goes nowhere. I guess it might be for another revision of board? I investigated and even looked under the sticker that covers the back. I did find a battery compartment for a 16xxx style rechargeable cell that you access with a screw there though. But that hole is just a hole.
