That’s amazing condition for its age we ran a small fleet of these bikes in Hull (Humberside Ambulance Service) Paramedic fast response team they where excellent and stood up to very heavy use and where extremely reliable machines I think the look has stood the test of time ❤

Thanks for the information, that’s music to my ears, I can see why they were reliable. Good to hear from another rider who knows them. Safe riding.

I had a k100.. 1989 LT model.. only kept it a short while.. I’m tiny.. and it was just to big for me.. the weight .. could barely push it.. but I will and have to say this.. it was a brilliant bit of engineering.. extremely stable..good on fuel and reliable.. everything worked on it.. 😮 I believe the German police used them.. that’s testimony to the quality.. mind you.. can you beat German quality??? Definitely over engineered.. my advice.., if your big and strong.. and are looking for a bike that is being classic.. this is it!!!.. and they are reasonable cost wise.. mine had the classic oil leak between the gasket and housing leading to the shaft drive.. in high mileage bikes.. don’t worry about that.. but do make sure the shaft drive had been serviced.. the rest of it.. well.. literally..,Bomb proof!!!!☝️🙏☺️

Thanks Simon. I am luckily 6ft and 33” inside leg so not too bad for me. I have read up quite a bit before I got it and between that and the great advice from people like yourself, I am getting to know what to look out for.

The brake light is a test for your ABS that is normal on the "K" bikes. I hope you have as much fun on your bike as I did with mine, at 76 yrs old now I have had to finish my biking due to my health. Good luck ride safe 👍

Thanks Phil, yes sussed all that out from the manual, but thanks. That’s a shame you biking has come to an end, I dread that day but the reality is nothing lasts forever, so I fully intend to enjoy what I have. You never realise how lucky you are until things are no more. Hope you can enjoy other things. Take care 👍

Had one once. It took the strength of a gorilla to manhandle it. An inch off vertical and over it went. Took three men to pick it up again. If you're 6 foot six tall, super fit and 250 pounds of muscle, OK, maybe.

I have had my share of many heavy bikes. It is quite tall though, so will watch out.

That’s great Carl. I nearly bought a K75 in the late 80’s early 90’s so they were always in the back of my mind. That’s a good length of ownership. I love the engineering and the little things that are just well thought out, exceptional and that’s from a man that’s had many older Honda’s.

Bonjour.

Thank you for the comments, the luggage racks came with it when I bought it. I would agree they are superb quality, So many neat touches to the design. That’s good to hear a decent mileage and that seems to be the common theme. Anyway thanks for watching and safe riding.

Beautiful bike, congratulations. I'm not a BMW guy, although I do have a R1150RT in my collection. BMW's do make excellent 'work bikes'. The Beemer is my everyday bike, except when there is now and ice. Yet, when I really want to enjoy myself I take out either my VFR or my CBR. Weather protection. stability on the Beemer is first rate. Personally I do not find my RT a nice bike to work on. On the Honda's I do all maintenance myself, for the Beemer I use a BMW Specialist.

Thanks for the nice comment. Yes I am not really a BMW guy either and this is my first. I was brought up on Japanese bikes. I’ve had all the VFR’s. I now just have my 1991 VFR750 and I love it. What VFR and CBR do you have?

@@ALifetimeMeasuredinMiles I have a 4th gen VFR (1996) in metallic blue, original Honda color yet not that common. And I just bought a 2001 CBR600 F4i. I'm an old geezer and I feared the CBR was a bit too much for the old bones 😊, yet it is quite comfortable. I'm really a sports bike guy, but they are a bit unpractical for every day use.

Yes, annoying and not easy to listen to. It’s a charming bike, I love all this old kit, after wasting a fortune over 2 decades on the new bikes, I missed a much cheaper thrill. I have began to realise this over the last few years. Hence the older stuff coming in more.

I haven't a clue what the bike model is, did you reveal it as your sound quality dived?
@ALifetimeMeasuredinMiles
@ALifetimeMeasuredinMiles 7 ай бұрын
Apologies, it’s fatal if you change you normal setup and the sound quality was terrible, I only realised when I put it together but thought I will stick it up anyway and at least you can hear the bike. I did pull over and I think I said it then but it is a 1994 BMW K1100LT. Apologies, I will do another video and go over it next time and make sure it’s decent quality.
