“They have the intellect of a 5 year old” Very very true. So don’t keep him locked in a cage 23 hours a day. He needs a lot of attention, space, and enrichment. Greys get bored easily and can become depressed, destructive, etc. They need a good diet of mostly pellets and veggies and their cage needs to be much bigger than the space mentioned in this video. Parrots are so often neglected or surrendered for being so high maintenance. Plleeaaasseee do the research and give him the care he needs/deserves.

knowing a lot about birds and having an african grey since i was 8, makes me think im at least slightly wirthy of commenting on this. Bird's are the 4th most commenly owned pet in amarica, and the the most rehomed, especially cockatoos and african greys. African greys live up to 80 years. They are some of the smartest birds in trade, and are about as smart as a 4 year old, imaging having a 4 year old in your house your whole life. They are also extreemly sensitive and NEED routine. Having the wings clipped at a young age can be a good idea, but you should train it to fly around house and to you, and have designated perches and other places to land. do not get birds if you have other pets and can’t supervise them togther 24/7. You can NEVER trust different species togther. Logan, i think its really brave of you to get this bird, and i think youll be a great bird owner, but just be careful. Also sir is a beautiful name.

My mom has an african grey and she "gets along" with the other pets. When her cage is left open during the day while we're in the living room with her, sometimes we won't notice her climb down to the ground and then we'll eventually hear her say "Go! Go! Go away." to my dog 😂 my dog just gets confused and I find it super cute. Unfortunately you can't trust all pets to be this tolerant of each other though so hopefully he keeps a watchful eye out 🙌🏻
