My new car, Fiat 500L Trekking

I test drove the L and loved the ride. I went with the 500 but it was a flip of the coin. Zero problems in over 2 years. Great car man !!!

This car kicks ASS! I own one and LOVE it. There is more room in this car than in my 1983 Lincoln. Great power out of the 1.4 liter multi air turbo engine. I am very happy with it. This car has the same horsepower as an early 1990s Oldsmobile Cutlass. 160 horsepower with 184 foot pounds of torque. I love the gauges. I had a 2011 Kia Soul, a great car but, too slow. When you get on the 500 L, there's a small delay, but, once the turbo spools up, it WILL peel out like crazy. I call the little pull down mirror the "brat mirror" or once the kids grow up, the " naughty teenager" mirror. The car is great! I certainly hope you enjoy yours.

We have the 500L Trekking in yellow. Now about 1 year old. As in your video (well done!) my wife and I can fully endorse this car. It has been 100% reliable, only back to the dealer for an oil change. As you point out - fun yet practical.

That is one awesome looking little car , looks very well put together as well. I like how it looks different from most other vehicles around . Great video by the way, I'm looking at one of these little cars to replace my totaled 2008 Focus SeS. It wasn't hit while I was driving it , it was totaled parked in front of my house by a Drunk driver showing off with his Dodge Challenger Hellcat.

Your video was a great pre-purchase intro to the car. Thanks much! We just bought one in the "tornado blue" which is a deep gorgeous cobalt. LOVE the car. Ours has the ability to adjust the height on the passenger seat, which is perfect for me, since I am both short, and dealing with osteoarthritis in both hips. I can back up to the seat and just slide in. No wrenching sore joints trying to climb in to a car with low, or too high, seats!

Great review just purchased a yellow one today with 37,000 on a 2015!!! Looking to purchase snow tires to put on for the winter. Love the 6 speed, smooth shifting and clutch. Could not have asked for a better car

I have a 2015 500L, Hunter Green just like in the video. 6500 miles so far and loving it. It's not a sports car but it is fun to drive with surprising power when you're at cruising speed for passing. It's a bit slower getting off the mark because the turbo takes a second to kick in, but you quickly get used to it. One day a pedestrian said to me as I was exiting the car, "what a cute car". My FIAT answered back "Thank you".

I have a 2014 Trekking in the same color. My only complaint is the lack of cupholders in the backseat and the 2 in front are very small! Other than that its great!

Is it a Derringer at 6:22? :-) The europian model of this Fiat has "Traction +" feature. This is an electronic limited differential lock system. Do you have it too?

its front wheel drive and if you get the Tracking version it has some extra traction control; so with snow tires it should be pretty much a go-anywhere vehicle

Thanks for making this video. I'm seriously looking at purchasing this exact car. The main thing that sold me was all the boot space once the seats are folded up. I'm an antique picker and am always picking up stuff. I also drive Uber a few nights a week so a pick up truck was a no go. Do you think this sounds like a practical choice for me? Thanks again.

+Steven Hawley I think it would make a great Uber car because it has lots of leg room in the back and it's great on gas. It's also pretty quick to go when you press on the gas and for a smaller car, you do get pretty descent trunk space and more when the rear seats are folded down as you mentioned

+Hickory taylor I've always wanted a Mini but being 6'4 it was never the most comfortable. I love my Fiat, great on gas, easy to park, fast on the take off and plenty of head room. I would say to at least test drive one if you can so you can see for yourself

We did take one for a drive and it was really good. Seemed peppy enough with the turbo and handled well. Loved the head room and shoulder room. We also drove the mini and while I'm a bit shorter than you and way wider I was legroom wise fine, but when I put the seat all the way back the door pillar was into my shoulder. This one is more for my wife than me but she's about the same height 5' 12" as me but drives a lot closer to the wheel than I. The reviews I've been reading indicate they didn't like the 500 and that sales had suffered. Pisses me off I can get a better lease from Mini on a more expensive car.

In 1975 I purchased the highest ever recommended small hatchback (by Consumer Reports), a VW Rabbit. That car proved to be the worst car I ever owned and I was not alone. Since then, I have no trust in CR reviews. The best alternatives are actual reviews by owners.

Hey. Try to stay away from the 2014s. I know it may be tempting because of price but that model has really bad issues with the transmission. You would be gambling with that one. Get a 2017 or newer.

Reading the comments here, it seems that many people are happy about their 500l, the same applies in Italy where it sells very well. So I do not understand why it has been named a lemon car from consumer report. The usual prejudices about Fiat perhaps?

Hmmm... never read anything about the engine blowing at 60k!🤔 The reason for most negative reviews has to do with auto-manual vs manual transmission. The 6 sp manual transmission runs well and is a low maintenance vehicle. The auto-manual has some quirkiness when it came out, but I believe the issue has been fixed with a software update.

The only time you will have tranny issues is if you do not FIRMLY depress the brake at each stop that takes longer than 15 seconds your wearing the auto clutch it has. So here's what you do if your at a red light either press the brake hard or throw it in neutral and press the brake normally. Same goes for drive through or stop and go traffic. The reason the clutch wears is because theres a system that believes the car is getting ready to take off if the brake is not pressed hard enough which then engages the clutch and wears it
