Forget 2024 Adam, get the car stripped now to the bare bones & sort it properly once. Do the job right the first time. You will waste twice as much time & twice as much money doing it twice.

Good effort on the repairs Adam. On the LHS 2 pieces of new metal you put in. I would put some strength back in by adding some plug welds. Use a spot welding removal drill bit. Drill through one piece of the two strips and plug weld them. Keep up the good work.

Doing great for those of us that attempt similar. Gr8 descriptive commentary and informative..... Don't rub ya meat around the welds/cuts rough edge's to check though 😂

Adam the welding fires are very sneaky they start in channels in the car I was always checking for smoke flames in the car , but you can never be over cautious If you find more holes I would remove seats and carpet It might take a bit time but the time it’s gonna take to find second hand extra cash you ain’t got and worst completely torching the car it’s worth the while Am letting you know as own experience lucky I was outside once fire gets a hold on under seal it soon spreads fast Just a strong word of warning 😊

(not that i’ve done such welding) but if you watch the pros they dont weld in a line, they do spots along then keep filling the gaps slowly so you dont get too much heat into any one place and avoids warping and blowing thru

Congrats, bloody lovely car.Subbed. I run a 90's Honda that lives outdoors with steel about as thin as a crisp packet so I know all about rust paranoia.😁 So far, so good, mainly because at this stage it's more anti rust wax than car. 😅 And you're dead right about that aftermarket shultz goo(imho). Too often it's just used to cover up existing rot and/or I've seen too many cars rot away underneath the stuff unseen. Even on good steel just the smallest crack can trap moisture underneath.

Easier way to find the centre of a circle is to use a compass, not a magnetic north direction one - the drawing tool one for drawing circles! Measure the diameter, set the compass to half that, put the pin side of the compass on the edge of the circle and draw a bit of an arc over the approximate middle of your circle. Do it again from any other point around the circle, where your two drawn arcs cross is dead centre and ready for your centre punch. Sorted. Rub your main sausage all over that too to erase the pencil lines.
