First of all, this is a great car! I wouldn't change much. Really, I'd just refresh the paint work and maybe clean up under the hood a little bit. The exhaust heat shield is CANCER! Replace that rusty thing. Don't ditch any of the JDM stickers. Under the hood, or in the door jamb, or on the windows. Gives the car that JDM flavor. And definitely keep the wing. It'll just look like a fancy Mirage without it. Gotta have the wing. I'd maybe add an exhaust. No shame in getting one from UpGarage. You gotta get what you can find. Speaking of finding, if it doesn't already have it, when you go to Mitsubishi, get one of the OEM keys made for the car. The JDM Mitsubishi keys are slightly different than the USDM Mitsubishi key. Most people will never know, but you'll know. Or maybe that's just my OCD. I have to have an OEM key for every car I own. 😂 Anyway, glad to see you back in an Evo. Can't wait for future videos!
@CaptTwo64 жыл бұрын
Hahah funny you mention under the hood. I just got done spending the past 2 hours degreasing and scrubbing the engine bay. It looks night and day now! I will go to Mitsu next week and see what I can get my hands on. I only have 1 key so I definitely need a spare!

These are rare now in the uk just remember the evo3 was prone to piston Ringland failure if it has its boost increased past 1bar as it was higher compression than the evo 1 /2. One nice feature that is not hooked up on the evo 3 is the sas system on the inlet manifold left hand side there us a metal pipe with a banjo bolt swop the bolt to a holed one then the system should work
@MariosEvoCy4 жыл бұрын
Check the oil pump , water pump, alternator , to be in good condition. Do a compression test, both on cold and warm engine. Check the harness and wiring along with all the grounding points. Check the oil pressure.Do a leakage test, and a boost/vacuum leak test. Check all the gaskets and seals, engine and drive-train. Change the oil in engine, gearbox and diffs. The evo 3 is rear diff biased btw. Do the plugs also. Check for any clanging noises,. You can change the bushes of the shifter housing to solid ones, along with the cable bushes, it will make a significant difference in how the shifter performs and feels. Sent the injectors for a dynamic test and clean up. As you said change the exhaust system to a quality aftermarket one. Before you decide to up the power, I would do a drop in job, as in changing the rods, headstuds, rod bolts ,pistons ,and bearings, to new forged internals. Map the car on higher power fuel and ignition maps, along with boost around 1,5 bar, see how you like that. Then I would do the fuel system, a set of new higher efficiency plug wires, and then convert the oem turbo to a 20g one, new map and boost around 2.0 bar or even more, along with a set of aftermarket street cams. Nice find, excellent choice of a car, enjoy your new car!

Dope! got to the end and agree with your prospects. sad you didn't keep your R33 but congratulations on this Evolution 3! trunk aside, it is satisfying to see clean, rust-free fenders and wheel wells. quiet, clean subtlety (as i get older, wings and spoilers become more of an eyesore, real world vs high performance functionality aside. deletes make the car look not basic, but highlight the rest of the features that make it distinguishable, which cars like this have plenty of) think it looks more mature and sexy without a spoiler; the bumper, hood, and wheels are dead giveaways, plus probably no fake evo 3 mirage right hand drive converted. antenna delete? keep it oem as much as possible, but you said it, the kid within is a big influencer. after the necessary maintenance service repairs, tasteful little performance upgrades become major, long-term, potentially polarizing and permanent experiments for more aggressive looks and performance. specially if you're going to possibly sell it, kid might not be able to revert back to an oem canvas to keep and save original or have their play with it. i appreciate that you mentioned going direct to Mitsubishi first, for something as little as the oem badge, before aftermarket, so that it helps keep the practice alive and well to preserve limited run, specialty cars such as the Evolution line and unique performance / sport cars in general (STIs, RX-7, S2000, NSX, Supra, Z and GT-Rs; JDM/DTM/USA, etc) like what Porsche does with their heritage programs and Nissan started doing with GodZilla 32s and up. Dust off those blue prints, boys, and re-mint those quality pieces to the puzzles out there. how much better in-house tuners and aftermarket manufactures would it breed if not for the factory themselves, to then influence racing programs and consumers of these fun toys.

Awesome choice of car, I have an Evo 3 too! I see you have the optional factory front strut bar, got the 2 optional ones in the boot? get yourself a keyless remote from yahoo or mitsubishi if you don't have one. You need some shifter bushes, yours have fallen apart, they are very cheap from Mitsubishi, you'll need them regardless if you buy a short shifter anyway. Fujitsubo still make front pipes and catback exhausts, available through RHDJapan (they do 10% off for military + they have shipping to military bases). Try finding a rear red number plate garnish and rare bits before you leave. Don't leave things like the stock exhaust behind in Japan, they are very hard to find and nobody wants to sell anything from their hoard. I found a set of bronze TE37 at UpGarage for a good price if you are thinking of changing wheels. most of the time they have 17"x7 anything from +42 to +32 4x114.3 bronze work emotion cr kai usually for 25,000-30,000jpy for a set of 4 if you like those (there are 2 suitable sets at the time of writing). Checkout the 4gtuner forum or EverythingEarlyEvo page on facebook for info on these. BTW, Mitsubishi made 10,431 Evo 3, just have a look at your VIN to see what I'm talking about, your car is well past the 5k range.

Few things to watch out for. Crankwalk. Cracked ring lands. Rust coming through the roof. Other than that they’re great cars. Can’t tune them without an aftermarket ecu though. Ecmlink is the most popular route. Stock pistons are not forged though as u mentioned. They are pretty weak. Wouldn’t put more than 15psi in the stock engine. Easy way to get 350hp though is bigger fuel pump later evo injectors and some sort of ecu. Join evo123.net forums for lots of info.
