You added the plant and Driftwood with the little bit of bacteria on and then added water with chlorine killing the bacteria. Also the filter will 110% suck up the baby shrimp so try adding a pre filter sponge or put something over the filter intake to prevent the baby shrimp getting sucked in, also take the filter cartridge out and add some sponge or bio media to have more surface area for beneficial bacteria, as you gonna have a big bio load and those cartridges are just so the suppliers make money. Great video!!! And I am just explaining this to help out not to attack you and be a hater😉 can't wait for your next video!!!

Hi Nick, I am going to agree with some of the other posters that you may be better off getting a sponge filter for the shirmp tank. Shrimp are grazers and enjoy picking over algae and something called biofilm which grows on decaying plant matter and the surface of sponge filters. See if the pet store has almond leaves and put a couple in the tank and you will see the shrimp love to feed on them. You are also going to need more plants, two of the best for shrimp are Java moss and Guppy Grass, as they provide a lot of hiding places and feeding surfaces for baby shrimp. There are a ton of channels on shrimp care and I am sure you can find them yourself. Good Luck!

TWDSUPERFAN2010 1986 I think he meant beneficial bacteria, which drinking water doesn’t because of chlorine/chloramine. That’s why we add dechlorinator. That’s how it works in developed nations, in third world countries they don’t have that luxury that’s why there is bacteria in the water

He’s wasting a tremendous amount of money by buying everything how/ where he did as well as the fact that he will probably have little to no success with any eggs actually producing with the filter he got. Ghost shrimp are also very sensitive to their environment so by him not cycling the tank, that’s going to put a ton of stress on them and the pregnant ones probably won’t do too great.

Sadly, I didn't drip acclimate them when I first started. i didn't know it was required until I searched up "Why are my shrimp dying" and it said something about drip acclimating. Now thankfully, I only had 3 shrimp and yeah. So yeah, I put 3 in there, keep in mind I didn't drip acc them, I had 3... then sadly one passed. But other than that one, the other 2 were doing just perfect! they were molting etc. Now I've done a lot of research and I'm now starting a shrimp breeding tank.

Some of those looked like whisker shrimp. If they are whisker shrimp, they are omnivores and opportunistic predators. They will eat first shrimp, neocaridina shrimp (the colorful ones you were talking about), as well as living fish. A lot of hobbyist and breeders talk about drip acclimating shrimp because it how sensitive they are to water changes. They say sudden changes can lead to early molting and death.
@julianatorres46213 жыл бұрын
I've been a shrimp keeper for half a year and belong to a lot of neocaridina groups on Facebook. I can tell you that you rushed into buying shrimp and didn't do much research. The tank needs to be prepped for several months before you even put the shrimp in or else you will find that a lot of them will start to die off fast, you should of listened to your instinct about the sponge filter because those babies will not be strong enough to fight the current and will get sucked up the filter, and I will suggest to never ever put "ghost" shrimp with neocaridina or cardinia. Most pet stores call them that but in fact are whisker shrimp and they will kill everything.. Please don't misinform followers who look up to your videos and think everything you say is right. They might just be shrimps but u also have to test the pH, temp, ammonia, nitrate, and tds, gh, & kh.. Not hard you just have to research a lot

As well as letting the tank cycle properly with live plants in first there die off melt phase will be easy to clean an help cycle the tank. As for shrimp ghost/glass have an extra stage of growth for babies which float for 5 to 8 days so slow water flow is better for them. My guess any that did hatch got sucked into the filter anyway.
