I absolutely love mine, I picked mine up about 10 years ago for $50; also there is a little adapter available, that takes a hearing aid battery and converts it to the correct 1.35v, no need to compensate with the ISO.

I have a Konica Auto S2 that belonged to my grandfather, one of my favorite cameras to shoot for so many reasons.

I picked up my first film camera because of this video. It just feels great to hold this camera in my hands. Absolutely love it!

This camera looks really good, and kinda affordable, too. I'm looking for a similarly easy to use and lightweight film camera. Thanks for the video and the sample images.

Thanks for a nice presentation of this little camera. I bought one at an online auction last year for $20 but haven't used it yet. Will immediately test with black and white film

One of a few rangefinders that I wouldn't sell. My wife absolutely hates my collection! Excellent review.

I have bought a C35FD (the Japanese edition of the Auto S3) and I am waiting for it to arrive. I got a very good price because it is supposed to not work well, the shutter is unstable because the power unit is unstable, according to the seller's description. I have the impression that it is a question of the battery, because they used an LR44 and perhaps it was not at 100 percent of its capacity or who knows. I think that an SR44 will be better for you, I will try it when it arrives. And if not, I hope it's easy to fix. You are aware that it has a manual 100 x 100 mode, right? Thank you

Found an immaculate C35 automatic at a thrift store for $30 in the original leather case. Has been my go to for when my canon ae1 is to much work to pack

Cool video! Enjoyed it. Love the prints and yes that 38 is a winner. You might be interested in the Konica IIIA as well. It’s a fully manual step up even from the S3 and it totally rivals any Leica.

Does the hack to increase aperture by reducing ASA necessarily mean you end up overexposing the image?

So what modern batteries can I use? Very helpful video. I just found one in my basement, that used to be my father in law’s. Almost trashed it.

LR44 batteries will fit and power the camera. Your meter will just be a little off because of the different voltage be sure to set the ISO a little slower than your film's speed! Cool find!
@lexusuk790110 ай бұрын
Can you elaborate a little on the light meter issue? I'm currently running a test roll through a Konica Auto S3 I picked up recently. I had a roll of Kodak Gold 200 so just loaded that up. I have a new LR44 1.5V battery in the camera. I've set ASA to 100 and will see how this film turns out. That's correct right? The confusion for me was that you said you had 400 speed film but you "normally rate at 200. So you set ASA 100." I'm new to film shooting so bear with me. So you're saying you use a 400 speed film but you normally use ASA 200 in order to underexpose that film right? but in this camera because of the light meter issue you set at ASA100 right?
@tobycunningham797 Жыл бұрын
The old battery was 1.35v you can use a Wein cell or other adapter otherwise using 1.5v on its own will skew the light meter by about a stop.
@2Frames198 ай бұрын
I have one of these cameras! I’m not sure my meter works though. Does the internal meter have to work on this camera to be able to use it properly? Since you can’t adjust the aperture manually…?
@thefindlab8 ай бұрын
If your meter/ electronics are not working it will just shoot wide open. You will still be able to select your shutter speed but it all your shots will be at f 1.8.
@2Frames197 ай бұрын
@@thefindlab Thank you! Also does the 1.5v battery actually work in the camera, or do you use one of those battery adapters I hear about?
@yisun23587 ай бұрын
@@2Frames19 The 1.5v battery should work. I used a 1.45v zinc air battery. I don't feel I need to compensate for the metering. But I will see how my first roll turns out. If your light meter doesn't work, you can put on a hot shoe cover to activate the GN adjustment, which allows you to manipulate the aperture. But it will be a bit tricky.
