A lot of good talk here by Watley about what they support buuuuuut that support isnt reflected in HomeKit all these months later. I have five of these. They’re not great right now on the smart bulb side. Either HomeKit needs a mirroring feature or Inovelli needs to do something with the software/matter protocol.. No way in the default HomeKit app to have this switch brighten two hue recessed lights by holding down button one, or dim by holding down button 2- the intuitive way, For all the “smart bulb mode compatibility,” Inovelli Blue Series (Zigbee via Home Assitant or Hubitat) is almost more intuitive than HomeKit for wall-based smart bulb control. Mr. Watley- I love what you do. But please drop a LONG TERM review showing how to dim and configure. Non-techy spouses, visitors and kids all need intuitive wall controls. THIS AINT IT.
@bytecooled4 күн бұрын
I believe the way to have these switches dim/brighten the bulbs would be through either a scene setup or shortcut so when the button is double pressed it goes to say 50% or when it is long pressed have it go down to 25% (or desired brightness). Other than using the phone for dimming the lights I do not believe there is a way to have it as a “traditional dimmer”

I've had one pre-ordered for months. Can't wait to try it out. Finally a switch that comes in several color schemes. UPDATE: I've converted most lights in my house to LED. They all use less than 25W. These switches won't work with less than a 25W light unless you also install a bypass, which is an additional cost. Check the specs for the light you plan to use this switch on. If it draws less than 25W, be prepared to also purchase the bypass or a different brand of switch.

This switch is what us home automation enthusiasts have been waiting for long ! However, just imagine the complexity it implies … to manage, say, some scenarios on a smart bulb plus the effects on the built in led, you’ll easily reach 10 HomeKit scenarios. Multiply this by 30 light circuits in the house. The irony is that, Matter removes the technical needs for bridges, but there seems to be a desperate need for smarter, more scalable and more user friendly controllers than the average smart speaker.

This thing definitely ticks a LOT of boxes for me. It's a shame smart switches are so expensive, as I'd love to simply replace every switch in my house but that's not feasible. Also the smart bulb feature is really great. You CAN achieve this with any smart switch by simply not connecting it fully to the circuit, but this is way easier and you can easily change the mode. Lots of colors, lots of installation options, tons of triggers, Matter/Home Assistant support, and the fact that the light can be controlled based on events is PERFECT as one thing I look for in LED lighting is the ability to both be used as notifications and to go away at bedtime.

I've been asking for smart switches with "smart bulb mode" for a while. Many old homes in the US use single-pole switches for a single ceiling fan in each room. This was back when the fan had pull cords to turn on the light or change motor speeds. Fast forward to today, and those ceiling fans have RF remotes, so the wall switch is totally useless. You just leave it on. Id much rather have a switch that leaves constant power on to the appliance while giving me scene control of the fan speeds, smart bulb(s) in the fan fixture, and any other smart lighting in the same room. There are ways to get around this with Wyze and IFTTT, but everything is convoluted and requires a subscription to create scenes/automations. Loved the concept of the Inovelli Red switches, but they were never in-stock. I hope the company can produce and support this new white series, but for now it's all early-adopter preorders and most of the supporting products are in beta-test (as of early Sep 2024). Waiting to see their whole White-series product suite on the market and functioning before I invest in $400+ of new switches and fan controllers.

I'm looking forward to trying these. The multiple tap and long press options are a game changer for scene control! I was just wishing I could find a way to automate some things that way. The LED indicator on the switch looks like it works similarly to the old iDevices wall switches where the LED is treated as a separate light. I've loved using those for notices in my automations and this one looks even better. Did you happen to notice if the switch will retain a remotely set dim level when turned off and then physically turned on? I really want automation that sets dim levels on my switches after a certain time at night but none of my current switches will remember the dim level unless physically dimmed at the switch.

Lutron doesn't require a bridge after setup. The Bridge is there to allow remote access or time based (Sunrise/Sunset) automations. I ran my Caseta for over a year with the Bridge disconnected because I didn't need remote access or time based automations. Requiring a Brigde is no different than requiring a Border Router. Nitpicking aside these look like excellent values. I'm pretty sure you could run a motorized load by simply inserting a relay between the switch and end point that's appropriately specc'd.
@gregg59585 ай бұрын
I wouldn’t say “it’s no different” as you might already have a border router in your house so the Lutron hub would be one more extra piece of hardware to plug in and find a place for. Every item added makes your set up that much more complex. Over time that can add up!

Availability has always been Inovelli's weak point. Well, that and price (if you only need a "switch"). I pre-ordered a Blue series to try out, took many, many months to get. OK, we did have a pandemic to deal with, and all their products were perpetually out of stock. The Blue also has many of these options, more than I could reasonably use, so I put it in my garage (4-way, but that's a different set of issues nothing to do with them). Now that I have a few smart bulbs (outdoor sconces), I might have to think about these, especially since they are Matter. But just wiring them always hot and using the existing switch as a scene controller is working. And recently, the LED bar would have been useful by the front door to let us know if something is not secured before we leave. The fan canopy module is intriguing, although my Bond works well.

Unfortunately I couldn't get the light switch and the ceiling light fixture in the same shot to show that. If you look closely, you might can see the light coming on/off based on the brightness of the shot. It happens a little faster than it shows in the home app. But keep in mind, when using smart bulb mode, the speed of the automation is also largely affected by the responsiveness of the smart bulb being used. This is also why I added some clips showing the Eve Flare (globe light) coming on and off with the switch. The Eve Flare also connects via Thread, like the Inovelli Switch.

You cannot. There is a feature like this on their zigbee switches that allow you to bind the switch directly to compatible smart lights. I've heard that they hope to bring this type of functionality to the Matter/Thread switches, but I don't know how difficult that would be or if it will ever happen. Currently you stuck with the configurable buttons as a scene controller when using it with smart bulbs.

Yeah. It’s awful. Not sure if this is a matter problem or a HomeKit problem or an Inovelli problem, Inovelli Blue Series is where the best wall control is right now.
