It's beneficial to make a small undercut on each branch then as you cut it from the top it will not tear the bark on the way down it makes for a clean cut with no damage to the tree
@ritterjon2 жыл бұрын
Yes sir, for a lot of the branches I cut most of the weight off first before I cut towards the trunk. For softwoods this is especially true. Keep on tractoring!

Jon, I just bought the Dewalt 8" pole saw. Extends to 15'. Great outfit. Runs on a 4 amp battery or bigger. Make sure that you store the saw with the oil cap facing up, so that it does not leak. Your mom has a great yard man. Take care and stay safe.

What a handy tool to have. Much safer than a ladder and a chainsaw! Keep on tractoring!

I would agree! Most big brands these days are pretty solid in reputation. Keep on tractoring!

Jon, it's funny that I opened YT and your video was there. I just this morning did similar branch trimming to remove low hangers that can damage my new roof on my travel trailer. And, I have an Echo PPT-2620. It's a beast of a saw with a 12" bar and 12' extension. Very reliable, powerful, if a bit heavy and ungainly. It wears me out, I'll admit. Beats a ladder, or a lift.

It's really been a great addition to my tool collection. I'm finding it very powerful and can't wait to get some more attachments for it. Keep on tractoring!

I have an echo blower. It’s the most reliable 2 stroke machine I own. Like you, I didn’t even know about Echo before that. I love my Ryobi battery pole saw, but man it’s heavy because the motor is at the top. Now that I know the advantage of having a pole saw I may move to a gas powered model. Time for you to get a wood chipper now!

I am a Echo nut also. I bought the 9010 back pack blower because I have a large yard with Oak tree and it does not matter how thick the leaves are. It will literally roll rocks. I want to get the pole saw attachment for my trimmer
@exit03942 жыл бұрын
I have that attachment. I run it on a PAS225 power head. Nice tool. You can actually cut some pretty decent sized limbs with it. I actually have that, the hedge trimmer, edger and trimmer head and it’s a really nice setup. Been running my echo for like 13 years now and I haven’t killed it yet. For a homeowner at least you can’t beat it.

Get the brush cutter. It goes through brush and shrubs very well. Only way to tackle wild roses or black berries. The pole saw is not good for flexible stuff. Love mine. Good purchase.

Once you buy one of those power heads that you can swap attachments on, you'll never really want to go back to a regular trimmer. I don't have an Echo, mine is the Troy Bilt version, but its great having 1 power head to do multiple tasks simply by swapping out the attachment. I have a blower, trimmer, brush cutter, and roto-tiller. I still need to get the edger attachment, just at my property I have no use for the edger so I've never bought one, however, I'm trying to work up the courage and times that I can start mowing lawns as a side business, so I'll need an edger for a while. I recently bought the Dewalt flexvolt trimmer, which also has the removable attachments....all my Troy Bilt and Ryobi attachments fit the Dewalt battery powered powerhead....woohoo, it has plenty of power to even run the roto-tiller attachment. I now wish I didn't have a snow blower attachment for my lawn tractor, I wouldn't mind going electric/battery powered and getting a battery powered lawn tractor since I only have about 3/4 of an acre of lawn to mow...in the summer its less as my pasture area dries up. Slowly going with the battery powered lawn/garden tools too, the convenience is great, just put the battery in and go, and with the small property I have, its great...thinking of getting a battery powered push mower as well. I'd just keep my gas equipment for the mowing business at that point, and just go with the battery equipment for my personal property.

So many brands are going heavy into marketing as many tools as they can compatible with battery options. That’s really nice you Troy Bilt stuff works with your new Dewalt version. I would like the battery power head eventually as well. Keep on tractoring!

My truck sure has a lot of stuff in it. I wish it got a little better mileage however. I get just under 17mpg at the very best. When towing its around 10-11 but it’s cheap to license and insure. Thanks for watching and always commenting Dave! You sir are one of a kind and I appreciate all your support. ☺️ Keep on tractoring!

Hi John, Trimming trees is good for any home with or without a large plot of land. I had three Echo saws which I used and was pleased with!! I feel when Echo began merchandising in the Big Book Store I felt they saws, and other attachments some of the quality when down. Not that they are bad products just give up the ghost sooner as compared with Stihl. This of course is just my opinion and thank you for taking the time to read it. Many blessings to you and the ladies in your life!!

Oh I don’t know… really the only big box store I’ve seen Echo products sold in is Home Depot which also sell top line products like Dewalt, Toro and Milwaukee. I don’t see them compromising quality at all. I’ve seen a lot of improvements made instead. My Kubota dealership also sells Echo products. I’m a firm believer in the engineering they offer. Keep on tractoring!

Love your channel and your content, and don't mean to be critical by asking this...but trimming trees this time of year? Especially oaks? Not sure what area you are in but oak wilt is a major issue in my area of MN.
@ritterjon2 жыл бұрын
Oak wilt has affected one of our trees in our yard near St. Cloud but generally it seems to affect red oak and pin oak. These are all white oak that I trimmed and oak wilt hasn't been much of an issue in northern MN. I guess we'll see what happens. I know it's a risk. 😐 Keep on tractoring!

I think you're talking about the mini clip. I do too much traveling back and forth and just don't always have the BX in tow with me. Keep on tractoring!
@wildbill23c2 жыл бұрын
Not enough reach capacity with the loader, and the BX I don't think would handle it, that attachment way up in the air would make the little BX way too unstable. Would be cool if they made something like that for these sub-compact tractors though.
