Crazy thing. Years ago in Boise Idaho I stumbled across a zebra plecos. It was at Petco or PetSmart. Whichever ever one came into the valley first. This was back in the early nineties. Most expensive fish I bought up to that time. Especially for a newly wed. I knew she was a keeper. The zebra cost sixty five dollars. This was about a year before any magazine articles came out on how to take care of them. I sadly learned that they are nothing like a common plecos. Never ever seen that type of plecos in those type of stores again. I'm even more of a fish snob now and don't by from those stores anymore.😊

Awesome video Tom. I recently got 2 x L46 juveniles (3 months old) however it has been 6 days and they are not feeding... the spot where i left my food were untouched (pellets, brine shrimp, blood worms erc etc), i drop the food prior to lights out... would appreciate your advice. Much thanks 😊 Water parameters; Ammonia: 0, nitrite: 0, nitrate 20. Ph 7.0 Water temp: 29 deg celsius

Great video Tom thanks for sharing.Excellent tip on no power heads to be used. Outside of my budget but have many of pairs of super red plecos breeding and some longfin super red growing up Hope to have a video up soon on my channel once new auto water change system rack is done of 9 10 gallon tanks.It’s a complete build video from design,setup, build with a leak catching system in case it happens as I have no floor drain in my fishroom.

TM Aquatics ,cool. I only have 4 tanks left to drill as everything else is done and part of the video is edited. I am just waiting for my wrist to heal so I can drill the rest of tanks and film the completed rack for an intro and the end of the video part.

Very nice, so what's your water mix, Tds RO mix? Thanks
@TMAquatics4 жыл бұрын
Depends on my tap water and whether or not the city messes with the water supply. But usually around 90% RO and 10% tap. Sometimes straight RO depending on the TDS in the tank. I like to keep the Zebs in low TDS water.

Haha, so true. Takes forever to grow these out. When people ask if they should get zebras, I always first ask if they have patience, and lots of it. 🤣

We have a club meeting tonight and mini auction. There will be a pair of wild caught L280. If I can confirm they are a M/F, they will be coming home with me. Not too many pleco species that you can safely keep a pair in a 10 gal tank 🤣👍

Hi Tim those zebras are beautiful, can I have them with the bristlenose?
@TMAquatics4 жыл бұрын
I don’t see why not, but they do have completely different dietary needs. Zebras are carnivores while BN are primarily herbivores. Not sure how well the BN would handle the zebra temps (83-86) over long periods of time.

TM Aquatics thanks for the heads up. Better then go back to the original plan in having them in separated aquariums.
