I probably go for 2nd option, less AD-DA conversion. But should try it all options first

Summ through the SSL, it was a bit quick to see but does the mini SSL have a master section, I believe the channel/subgroup/master throughput is the biggest part of a „desk“ sound, I have a complete Soundcraft K3 for that and when I want character I have a, still completely original and fully working Allen&Heath Mod 3 from 1972 which just oozes that late 60‘s/early 70‘s sound, have to drive him pretty hard due to hiss and so, and if people want I stem master onto my Tascam 238 cassette 8 track before summing through the Allen&Heath, doesn’t get any more original Lo-Fi than that, have lots of fun crossfading from pristine digital master into Tascam-A&H and back again, great fun!

GOTTA HAVE OPTIONSSS, I would personally keep things seperated so be able to just use the creme and other pieces, and be able to sum go back in protools then onto the outboard gear

Summing sounds like a nice idea, but may not he worth it. What you should really do, is test both of them on a few sources. Yes, a royal PITA to set up possibly, but compare the sound of the summing with the digital summing (which will also have one more pass of conversion as well). I think versatility is important, and the color the SSL provides may not work on EVERY single record. You will probably like it on some, and not others. The ultimate would be the ability to incorporate summing into your workflow. Perhaps you would just want to try the summing on the music buss, or the drum buss. This is a common technique but you may find yourself limited in your ability to execute this flexible setup by your I/O. Im sure you know all of this already

Buses through Side car summed to stereo and out to Creme, because once you set it up your good to go! Why not? I would if I had it.

Use it after the SSL as summing, you could get much more juice out of it, plus one less stsge of ad da

The summing SOUNDS like the pro thing you wanna do but for time, if it’s not gonna do so much to your mix maybe don’t sum first so you can save time.

I will give you an even better recommendation. Send your audio through it without actually compressing the audio; just as a pass through. That's all the compression you need.🎄🎁🎄

Leave it on a Patch Bay , doing this way you get more options . And more costs 😂 Tegelr audio produces high end patch bay as well.
