Jeff - love the design of this. odd-shaped aquariums can be a lot of fun. Looking forward to seeing the full outcome

Actually very cool. Anemone sexy shrimp would be a cool choice.

I was thinking the same thing! I haven't check the polls as far as what people voted for.

2 large rubber grip lid removers. So most “filtration” will be rock, sand and water changes?
@atfinthehouse86314 жыл бұрын
I’d consider one with flower nem and some sort of tiny fish and a crab, hermit, nassarius, nerite and shrimp. If I could figure out how to not have someone in office knock it over. How did you do the light?
@matryxmichaelcimino39134 жыл бұрын
From my experience with that same jar. Air stone made far too much salt creep. I found a fountain pump. Like the one you showed. That was a game changer.

Watched the light and then looked it up on PA who recommended a little heater that would be more appropriate. But I would think that fountain pump (which is an awesome idea) would heat the water so I would get an inkbird and run that pump based on the temperature. The light is super expensive for the size of tank. It also only has dimming as I understand - so you would need to set it at the strength you want for blue and white and then put it on a timer? I think for that price the old AI Prime would be a better choice - then at least you can set it to ramp up / down etc. And you could use it later (if you ever shut the Pico down). That Pico light (at that price) should at least be wifi controllable.

It is expensive as far as pico lights go but I absolutely love the color of this light (which is hard to pick up on camera)and you're right about the timer setup. I'll be holding on to this one for awhile so I'll be able to do a long term review of everything with this build. Thanks again for all the support!
@sunnygoold94494 жыл бұрын
@@MadHattersReef yeah I think it's a really clever light and I think for a pico you want a light / lid to prevent evaporation. If it has all the spectrum and its just a timer you need then fine but really for that money it should have some functionality ;) Looking forward to this build ;)

Imo don't get a fish (no filter and only 2g fish can fit in pico but around 3-5g Picos only) if u want a fish get 4 dwarf seahorses but they are sensitive so u should get that fountain pump in to pump water to a small box as a diy filter micro sump

Is the grabbing of the sand a million times necessary? Lol didn't think it would ever end like wtf lol

Why not use a betta heater?

I wanted something with a little more kick. I felt that a heater a little bigger wouldn't be over worked.

Do you want a small piece weeping willow toadstool and small piece crown leather? I can bring to you with a few zoas / palys at the Farmers Frag Market 3/7/2020 in CT.

What are everyone's thoughts on using a terrarium style under tank mat heater run thought a heater controller? Maybe put the mat down then a 1/4" thick neoprene mat over it then the tank on top. Anyone have experience with something like that?
@MadHattersReef4 жыл бұрын
My only concern would be if the glass could handle it. But most likely would work really well, nice even heat.
@matryxmichaelcimino39134 жыл бұрын
I have come to the conclusion that attaching a small sump I'm building a 5 gallon bucket sump now is the ideal set up. This will take all the extra equipment out of the pico. I will update you when I complete it all.

Nice to see another 2g setup. I recently started my own. Check it up here on my channel. But I'm not happy with the flow from just an air pump with air stone attached. And the salt creeps from it are the worst, even though I have a lid. Any ideas?

Mad Hatter's Reef I thought this was a light made by manufacturer for a specific jar? If that’s the case I was expecting like some sculpted glass lid with lights neatly placed inside.

Sorry to be negative but I do not agree with trying to make living space as small as possible, this is just a fashion and should be stamped out. Even a snail would be bored in five minutes and I would be bored with it even quicker.
