The whole reason I went with Severne was that the 5.6 Freek can be rigged on a 400 - light - and if I can't get the 6.3 Freek going with 102 Psycho on my inland freshwater lake nobody is on the water, not even the foilers.

I see, with the 430, sails from 5.2 and upwards get more stiff though, meaning you loose less tension. In terms of weight it’s not noticeable in my opinion, only the pressure point changes a bit, since the sail is more high Aspect.

windsurfillinois Did you rig that 6.3 Freek on the red SDM severne mast ? Does it really work well ? I wondered if it was a typo in the specification listing. That is what i was looking to do as i have the mast but don't see the 6.3 listed on U.K severne shop. I thought it might be worth a try when wind really light as at the moment i switch to 8 m2 NCX foiling but it isn't so good for lightwind freestyle. I have a 5.6 Freek ( from 3 years ago ) on a 400 cm red severne mast and it is really superb for foiling, probably my most used sail. I also have the 4.8 Freek from 2022 on the red mast and it is also great for foiling and i like it that if the wind picks up I can switch those rigs over onto a fin board and back on the water in a minute or two and then switch back to foiling quickly if the wind drops back again. I'm planning to get the 2024 5.7 Freek as the graphics look great but it is a wee bit of a downer to have to get a 430 cm mast also. . Interesting that Lennart says the change to 430 mast is to keep more tension in sail.

@@lennartneubauer1807 I won't be able to get a 6.3 Freek in the future now that it's discontinued. That's roughly 30% of my seshes - summer doldrum sailing. 6.3 Freek with Psycho 102 is the light wind holy grail that every windsurfer has been looking for. It's the most fun you can have in non-whitecapping to barely whitecapping conditions. You can still rip and leap off the water - real windsurfing - while others have gone to "mowing the lawn" on foils. If I can't make it work, foilers don't even go out.

@@zytigon I rig my 6.3 Freek on the Severne RDM 430 Red. It's awesome. It looks likes Severne is discontinuing the 5.6, 5.9 and 6.3 Freek. 😥 The 6.3 Freek with the Psycho 102 and Maui Ultra Fins 24cm freestyle is the light wind holy grail I was looking for. For my summer doldrums. I can rip and leap off the water in sub-whitecapping to barley whitecapping conditions. I'm out with the foilers. I weigh 78kg. If I can't make it work, foilers don't even go out. I have a quiver down to 4.0.

Very cool! Im surprise you are using a 5.7 Can you do any moves with the 5.7 ?

Thanks man! Yes I actually can do almost all my moves that I do on smaller sails! It might take a couple sessions to get used to it but especially for sliding moves the sail feels great
