This video popped up right before I was going to do my weekly planning! So helpful, thanks.

Great video Carl! I 100% agree! I have found my weekly review/planning for the next week is probably the biggest factor in actually being productive and getting the right things done more so than any productivity tip or technique I've used over the last 8 years. Highly recommend others make it top priority if you haven't already.

Thanks, J.D. Completely agree with you.

Great video Carl. It’s so nice to have everything clickable and in your notes app. No matter what app you are using (I still struggle with a perfect notes app). And to have a relatively clean task manager (without x amount of sub-tasks) makes all the difference. I also really enjoy the weekly review now. A big cup of joe on a Sunday evening, relaxing music… 👌🏻

@@Carl_Pullein okey. I have been playing around with it for a few weeks and a I really like it (and quick notes). I wish Apple Notes had a little more formatting so I could use it as my daily app. At the moment I only use it with shared notes to my kids and family. To complicated trying to explain all the other apps they could use 😂

Having bounced around from GTD to setting up my own To-Do pages in Notion (which was much too tedious for me) I finally settled on Todoist which I am very happy with but I needed some guidance/suggestions on how to make Todoist meet my specific needs. Enter Carl Pullein. Carl, thank you very much for you articles and videos. Your teaching style, your level of organization, and your explanations have be of tremendous value to me. Thank you sir! I'm looking forward to your Time Sector course as I'm confident that I will gleam more useful nuggets to get my schedule and priorities under control. Thanks again.

Great one! Just a thought: I think many avoid the planning session because it can be discouraging to have to face unfinished tasks from the week before and stressful to realize you have more you need to do in the upcoming week than is realistic but can’t figure out how to drop things. Anyone else find that hard? I hate that feeling. Wonder if you could help, Carl. It’s less logistical, more internal, but a huge part of the TTD process.
@Carl_Pullein3 жыл бұрын
Hmm, To me that's an opportunity to learn something rather than worry about. If I haven't completed all the work that I wanted to complete that week, I want to know why. The weekly planning session has helped me to refine and develop my system over the years because that tells me where things are not working as effectively as they could. Never fear it. Dive in, question yourself and learn from the experience. CANI (Constant And Neverending Improvement)

Super useful video Carl! Does it completely supersede video 188 on carrying out a weekly review? I guess I'm asking are weekly planning sessions and weekly reviews synonymous?

@@Carl_Pullein Thanks for the reply. When I was watching on my phone I couldn't see the individual items on the check list, so I was just understanding it as how to display the check list (as sub tasks, in evernote, etc.)... I came back to this on the big screen computer and now I can see the items on the check list itself, so I guess they're more self-explanatory

These are really good ideas. I tried adding sub tasks in Todoist but I have to uncheck each item and it messed up the order. I’ll try this next week!!! I also need to create the weekly checklist.
@UrielPatmos3 жыл бұрын
That's the problem I have with it too. The list has to be reorganized each week.
@Carl_Pullein3 жыл бұрын
Oops, I should have mentioned that. You do need to uncheck the sub-tasks once you have completed the session. That's why I do it in my notes app.

@meiermuellerschulze3 жыл бұрын
Todoist mentions two examples on how to make use of the new field: "Some tasks need more explanation than a name alone. Now you can add some extra details using the task description right below your task name. Try adding a detailed description to a teammate's task or add the number of sit-ups you'll do in your Wednesday workout task. You can even include links and formatting with Markdown!"

hi carl. while moving next week to this week. do you date all the tasks in this week? while doing so, i usually group it by due date in THIS WEEK Project. and i find it that most subtask is crowding the no due date group that i often accidentally date it. any tip for that?
@Carl_Pullein3 жыл бұрын
Hi Andri, I do date all the main tasks, but would not date sub-tasks, well, not unless the task was a genuinely date-specific task. The good thing about only dating the parent task is that it forces you to review the project as a whole.
@andriwitana85893 жыл бұрын
@@Carl_Pullein yes carl. i follow your advice and never date subtask. but in weekly planning, while moving task from next week to this week, i am dating all related task. and subtask is 'crowding' the no due date group making it less smoother experience while dating other task. i could label all subtask, but again, it is extra step i don't want
