I have the same bike. I like the bag you added, and I have the same touring windscreen. I was on the fence for fog lamps, but you have inspired me to get the same kind you have. I have reflective black decals on the back, and sides which do show well when lit by headlights. I also got canyon cages which I attached foot pegs to for long drives. Very comfortable to stretch your legs.

That's so awesome. Congrats on the new FJR, Mr. Polymers! I love the fog lights that you've installed. 1000 lumens is no joke. I hope the bike brings you many miles to come. I bought myself a 2015 HD Sportster in May after graduating from college. Nothing like a new bike to make you feel like the best version of yourself. Take care and ride safe, buddy!
@MrPolymers7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Orvis. Ha, I'm old enough to be your father. LOL. Trust me, when I purchased this, my wife thought I had bought a crotch rocket. Also, no Harleys for me. Reason being, back in 2000 I had a Suzuki Intruder 1400 with drag pipes. Loud as hell and also ended up in me getting into a confrontation with a neighbor who said I was drag racing which I was not. After that fiasco, my wife said absolutely "No more loud motorcycles"!!!!! Thus why I went to a Burgman 650 then notched it up to this. Good riding..
@Orvis1287 жыл бұрын
MrPolymers As long as you have the will to ride, you are a-okay in my book. That is what we all share, regardless of motorcycle brand. I'd love to own an FJR someday. I am jealous! My sporty is pretty loud but thankfully, so is my neighbor and his Harley. I've always wanted a motorcycle. It's been on my mind for my entire life. I kept telling myself, "maybe one day I can make this happen". A week after I graduated, I did just that. I've never been this happy before, and I look forward to making more memories with the bike 😊

Great video! I love the extra lighting you have fitted, being more visible is absolutely essential. As you were telling us about your preference to the bag over a topbox, I was reminded of when we used some leather throw over panniers on a Honda CM200T and Honda CB400NC, mainly for touring purposes but also for the weekly shopping trip. My Wife and I didn't own a car back then so the bikes were our only transport and so we used the bike for shopping trips to the supermarket. We left the leather panniers on the bike whilst inside the supermarket many times without problem, however on one occasion, I returned to the bike to find they'd been stolen! Damm!!!!! I felt so silly I can tell you as well as angry. That was a hard lesson learned I can tell you. At the age of 21 I was too trusting and naive. Happy anniversary to you both. My Wife Lynn and I celebrate 30 years next year. Also, well done on keeping your neighbourhood tidy. Our immediate neighbourhood is kept tidy by most of us living here, however that cannot be said about the rest of our once proud, historic town of Blackburn in Lancashire I'm afraid. Ride safe.

Thanks for the wonderful response Paul. I could not for the life of me get my wife to ride on a motorcycle. I really was thinking of a Goldwing, but it's just too massive of a bike IMO for short/long trips and to get a little aggressive on the twisties. The FJR fits that bill perfectly. I have a company car, so the FJR is strictly for pleasure rides. Congrats on upcoming 30 years. Today, not often you see couples together that long. Someday I hope to visit England. My ancestors are from there, Ireland and Germany..
@npr1300A87 жыл бұрын
Yes, I'm very fortunate to share with Lynn the pure joy of motorcycling. We've had two Goldwings in between owning two ST1300 Pan Europeans, the Pan won the day on that one. It Honda had developed the Pan like Yamaha have wirh the FJR, we'd have the Pan for sure. You'll have to visit us when you come over. Check out my channel to see where we ride to in this part of the UK, the best part in my opinion. 😎 Although we don't celebrate Thanksgiving, Lynn and me wish you and your family Happy Thanksgiving.

@@MrPolymers Hi. I've just come across this again. I'm afraid we didn't get to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary because I lost Lynn in May 2017 after a non fault crash on the bike. We were hit by another motorcycle that had blown a stop sign at a crossroads. I eventually lost the lower part of my left leg. My videos are so valuable now of course. I'm hoping one day to ride again. 👍

Great video. I too am 59 and I have the same bike in the Detroit area. Planning to get the same windscreen myself. Nice to see it in actual use, thank you. In my opinion, the FJR is the perfect bike. Goldwings are too big, BMWs are too expensive and Harley’s are both, along with noisy, unreliable and inherently unsafe. What I most love about the FJR is the versatility. Apart from off-reading, nothing is beyond the capabilities of this motorcycle. You can travel cross-country with speed and ease or just run down to the market for groceries. It has more torque then a Harley Breakout and it does it all without any fuss. It’s also one of the most reliable machines on the planet with routine maintenance. I’ve had many bikes in my 42 some odd years of riding and it is the best bike I’ve ridden, it reminds me of my ‘82 CBX but the CBX didn’t have the excellent brakes with ABS and as much power. I would only consider selling the FJR for the BMW R1200RT which is much more expensive, if not more comfortable straight out of the box. Looking forward to future videos on your channel, keep up the good work. I too am dabbling with motovlogging. Cheers and let’s get together for a ride sometime.

thank you very much for the info dense video. I too am 59 and own a 2010 FJR 1300A which I stumbled upon at Yamaha dealership with my friend while he was getting his Ural worked on. I've since stopped riding my other bike (Harley) because this bike is so far more advanced in everyway. I call it my "Starship Enterprise." It was used and the previous owner had LED strip accent lighting all over it. It came with the Commander 3 & the slip on Two Brothers exhuast upgrade. If all goes right in the superbowl I may be in the market for a new one. ;-) I'm already at Revzilla looking for the soft bag. THANKS AGAIN!

Thanks David. I'm still fine tuning the mods. Instead of the white lights on the side, I'm placing yellow lights as suggested by another poster. Also, I'm placing a car DVR front and rear cameras on it! Not sure how in the Hell this will work, but if successful, I'll do another video. Attempting to have video shooting while riding in case, God forbid, I get in an accident, etc. Happy Holidays to you and your family..;)

Jeff Wiebe , Preventing things, is just as important as having a working model. If someone recognizes a camera, they're way less likely to try to start stuff. Afraid that they're being recorded makes them think twice about their little plan.

@benth1626 жыл бұрын
I had those "sliders" on my FJR and they worked quite well when it would fall over with me when standing still. If I let the bike go past its balance point I could not hold it up. The forth time this happened I sold the bike. At 650 Lbs it is a heavy bike, but in all fairness I am short at 5'7" and too short of an inseam thus I could not put my foot down without leaning the bike over slightly. At speed I could lean it all the way over until I was dragging the pegs, but standing still it was just too heavy for me. I would advise everyone to get what you are calling Sliders for any bike because they keep your fairing from getting too messed up. If at speed though, and you dump it on a corner those "sliders" will not help at all because they create a pivot point which could cause the bike to flip instead of just riding on aluminum engine casing. 33 years eh? Well done my man, you don't hear many men speak so lovingly of their wives the way you did, showing her respect and admiration as a wife and mother to your kids. BRAVO. Enjoy your bike which I am sure you have already because it is now May 2, 2018.

I also went from a burg to an fjr. That Burgman was ridiculed and I was called an old lady but it was a beast and faster than my co worker's Hd Road King. More reliable too. I still miss my burg aka The Sconster. The only issue with the fjr for me was the levers. I had to change them for comfort. Enjoy
@MrPolymers7 жыл бұрын
Yep, you and I have gone down the same path. The Burgman was a great commuter vehicle for those needing the transportation as an alternative to a car. For me however, I have a company car and the FJR is my club ride toy. Plus, like a sports car, what fun would it be with an automatic. I do get more respect on the road as this thing is a beast. Another video of mine coming later tonight.

The VStream short for summer cuz I complained it got so damn hot with all the fairing... then the medium sized VStream for spring and fall.
