Actually my mom's friend lives in NYC.. it was during the summer months of this year when Covid was surging. So my mom's friend lived in an apartment adjacent to a woman and her family. The woman's name was Stella. She was in her mid forties. One night my mom's friend went to the roof for fresh air. It was already dark. She sat on a bench as she was hearing cops talk loudly downstairs and other people who were equally as loud. She then saw a woman come upstairs to the roof. It was Stella. As they knew each other they started talking but stella and my mom's friend were sitting opposite to each other due to social distancing. As the conversation went on my mom's friend asked Stella about the fuss downstairs. She said someone had died locked inside the apartment. But she said they didn't die of Covid but rather from negligence and depression. My mom's friend bid farewell to Stella and proceeded downstairs. She asked Stella if she wanted to come. Stella said that she felt suffocated down there and would like to stay up on the roof for a while. My mom's friend went downstairs to find out that the cops had not left. She asked one of the officers to find out what had exactly happened. This is how my mom told me what the cops told her friend and I quote "Ma'am Mrs.Stella Johnson has died of a heart attack and infact she has been dead in there for a week. So you're Mrs.XYZ? you lived next to her?". My mom's friend couldn't speak a single word. She was in severe denial and told the officers that Stella was on roof. She tried to look through the open door which was sealed with tapes. She saw the same woman who was on the roof lying dead on the floor with the same clothes on. It turns out few of the other neighbours had complained of the horrible stench coming from that apartment. My mom's friend thought it was some sewage leak. I'm actually pretty skeptical about all this.
