Reminds me of old Mrs. Morielli who used to give me a nickel if I ate a second dish of her spaghetti and meatballs. Today my favorite is chicken parm, which I always order in tribute to my late beloved Irish Uncle John. As a Sicilian American I love the food I grew up with, whether it originated in the old country or not. Anyway, another highly entertaining episode of My North End.

Thanks guys, my great grandparents Cataldo 12 moon st from Chiusano Italy and Dello Russo 36 Lewis St from Palma Italy both in the Campana Region, Prince Spaghetti Night!!! They got married there in Bostons northend moving to North St. they came over in late 1800s early 1900s. Vincenzo Cataldo came at 14 in Dec 1894 worked first as a candy maker for a cousins business

Entonces es una tontería empeñarse tanto en que se coma de una forma o de otra la comida italiana, si varía considerablemente de región a región, se ha convertidi todo en una histeria estúpida. Yo vengo de una familia siciliana radicada en Buenos Aires y mis padres me enseñaron que la pasta siempre había que comerla con tenedor y cuchara, ¿por qué? Porque era más fácil. y en verdad lo es, sencillamente se puede manipular mejor y no hay más. En Argentina todos la comen así, nunca he visto algo distinto, es más, no comer la pasta de ese modo en Argentina, o sea con el puro tenedor, se considera una forma rústica de comer, de alguien que no sabe manejar bien los utensilios. Pero ahora me vengo a enterar que muchos italianos se rehusan a usar la cuchara y que incluso lo consideran, inapropiado? Qué carajo, nunca comeré pasta enrollando el tenedor sólo contra el plato, es todo lo que puedo decir. La pizza también la comemos con cuchillo y tenedor en Argentina, en lo personal la como así sólo cuando está demasiado llena de ingredientes. Mucho conflicto por cómo se debe de comer en Italia pero mucha superstición. Es increible, veo pibes de todas partes de Italia, de Roma, Milán, se donde sea, qué sé yo, de 20-30 años con el rollo supersticioso, que si meten la sal en la cajuela Del auto para que no les pase nada en el camino, que no pueden pasar la sal directo en la mesa, que el pan no se pone para arriba porque es de mala suerte... eso era imposible entre los miembros de mi familia, la superstición era tajantemente rechazada por todos, personas que hoy tienen 95 años.. No sé si es un sesgo argentino pero, carajo, Italia parece bastante atrasada hoy en día.
