I'd imagine drug and alcohol abuse is everywhere in the kpop community given how dark it can get at times with the pressure on image and freedoms, that might be a topic to explore but it would need to be approached so carefully.
@atinymoonizen3 жыл бұрын
Alcohol abuse is all over Korea I'm sure because they don't really have any negative connotation with alcohol. Drinking a lot is the norm
@aerabyeol7 ай бұрын
deug abuse isnt but alchol abuse is not because of stress simply because some like to drink thats it.
@abigailhardy14466 ай бұрын
Drug use is extremely illegal in Korea. They don’t take that lightly. If a kpop idol is seen or caught doing drugs, they can go to jail. The sentence for drug use is longer than for someone who commits R@pe. Look it up. A lot of Korean American KZbinrs talk about this (Stephanie Soo for example). So no, if the entertainment company wants to avoid that kind of media attention, they will for sure enforce a strict no drug use policy.

Thanks for enlightening us and giving us gentle reminders that it's not always glorious being part of/closely relating to the industry. Not Gina but I suspect it was more likely to have been a paving stone rather than a brick. Wouldn’t have made any difference to the intended recipient, though. And as a trivia, I think the English legal system would treat the object as a “brickbat” anyway in an assault charge or something.

I think that sometimes we forget that being a "idol" is their jobs and how every job sometimes (even if you love what you're doing) can be really exhausted and stressful. But I also believe that some of they are really happy with their jobs, not just grateful, if you know what iam saying, but happy with their job and proud with their achievements. In the end of day we just can hope that they can feel some kind of happiness in their choices and be safe.
@YGhappyvirus3 жыл бұрын
of course there are some who do love their fans and love what they do and they really wouldn't be happier in any other profession but i think that it still doesn't negate the fact that they are literally worked to the bone sometimes, collapsing during concerts, stalked by fans and paparazzi, etc so yeah i'm sure the majority know why they are in this industry and they feel fulfilled but i mean, can you imagine not being tired of it all sometimes?
@paula76303 жыл бұрын
How could they not be miserable tho

of course they are. the amount of abuse they experience (men and women, young boys and young girls) is beyond words. and i'm not talking about emotional abuse only. y'all have the illusion that it's all sparkles and glam just because it is mostly a multimillionaire job.

idols in kpop are expected to cover up their hard times as well. that's why when idols like sulli or mina come out with their struggles or open up to the public, they are suddenly "scandalous". it's really sad.

WOW, thank you so much for being this candid. I really can't imagine what it must be like to be in this world. I love kpop but I don't think I could ever be in kpop, involved in any way that is. I am sure that there are people, as you mentioned in another video I watched, who managed to have a more consistent career path but it seems to be more the exception than the norm. I am glad that you found meaning outside of this world, despite putting in so many years to train and I don't think any of that is going to waste because you have accumulated so much experience for your future. I have to say that sometimes I worry about the overly involved nature of fandoms with their idols (I still cannot believe you had a brick thrown at you, that is beyond my imagination) because the day will come when their favourite idols will no longer be in the spotlight or some will get married, etc...I see a lot of it with current big groups on Twitter and sometimes it genuinely concerns me. Regardless, your videos are so educational and you are very intelligent. :) Thank you for sharing!!!

Those encounters with crazed fans were so scary, Gina. Getting bricks thrown at you, being pursued by (on foot and in vehicles), being screamed at just because you had the "audacity" to interact with their bias? Definitely not funny at all. ps: I think you would do well offering bespoke holiday planning services for VIPs, especially for more out-of-the-way destinations. Trying to book accommodation, and tailor an itinerary in a country that is wholly unfamiliar, and that doesn't speak their native language, would be daunting for most. A time-poor idol would surely appreciate having that taken off their plate?
