This is a reupload of snakelover23's video about music from the Yugoslav Wars.
The original upload has been made private and aside from that, it appears that snakelover23's entire channel is not accessible anymore.
Because of these facts, I have decided to reupload a video in order to prevent it from becoming lost.
If the original uploader comes back on KZbin and makes his video public again, I will make this reupload private because it is currently being mirrored for archival purposes and not to damage the original uploader in any way.
This video is not meant to offend anyone and was purely made for educational purposes

I’m telling you the fact that a American dude from FL was better able to break this shit down then any scholar, reporter or even a politician amazes me. Plus it is hysterical ! This is coming from a Serb female and I have to say literally one of the funniest videos I have ever watched . It’s also sarcastically informative as if Jerry Seinfeld or Larry David were to ever break down the Balkan conflict . Best I could do to show gratitude was send a star thank you gift . For context about why op couldn’t find any Croatian turbo folk, I remember seeing a comment on the original video about a Croatian teen who’d play old turbo folk in his room and his dad who was a veteran from the wars would always say something like “Turn that crap off, I didn’t fight and almost die to have my own son listen to that Serbian shit”, basically implying that turbo folk was more trendy in Serbia than it was in Croatia

hahahah brilliant! Fully enjoyed video!.. You brought to me some happy and somber memories. I was in the states during the period that lasted from 1996 to 2002 and ther was still war waging in the balkans. I was dating at that time a Bosnian Serb girl named Vesna as she was a refugee amongside many others of various ex-Yugoslav ethnicities. They often seemed to argue among themselves, and of course they rarely translated me what the matter of discussions where. But i remember how proud and fiery they where. Some where Bosnian croats, like Senad or Purely Bosnian like Adil. However they would never get into fights and ultimately they would calm down and have another party together. As an italian among them, i have never got to seep into that balcanic strong bejaviour and array of emotions, often times so colliding. But i learned to appreciate , the connection, the generosity and the love they were capable of. It was torching inside, to assist to this humongous tragedy unfolding, but yet ita has been a wonderful experience for me to be with them and share their quotidianity. One time while i was there in the US i happened to stumble across a serbian movie, in a Blockbuster , called Lepo Selo, Lepo Gore. I was oblivious of what it could contain. But when i saw it, i was totally distraught and torn apart.A very cruel and deep rendition of the conflict that really made me weep like a baby. The music in it was also very emotional and neat. To wrap it up , from my experience of Ex-Yugoslav people is of strong mixed feelings but a lot of positive and admired ones. Balkans are not for the faint of heart and people from those places are strong, proud, weolcoming people, but also stubborn, nationalist, and traditionalist beyond belief. Watch that movie if you haven't yet.. and sorry for my broken english, for i have lost it a little since i have made my comeback to Italy

After war, he actually didn't want to sign those songs as he thought that it was unfair and bad towards muslims, because we actually now live in peace, more or less. He is a great guy. You actually nailed the point of the Balkan wars. We fought in them, but didn't know why we fight. It was and still is really stupid, and lots of people died from both sides. Older people now are trying to imprint hatred onto new generations, but we just cannot see the reason why anybody should fight, especially for those small, meaningless countries, that are broke. Of course, there are people that would still fight for them, but I personally can't understand that. One could say that we are the most complicated bunch of countries and people existing today.

Turbofolk is taboo in Croatia because of the war. To this day no croatian musician can get away with making actual turbofolk, and until recently no radio station would play it. But in reality it is a guilty pleasure to a lot of us.

Rambo Amadeus is a really smart man and artist. He just coined the phrase turbo folk. Turbo means combustion under great pressure and folk means people. It means combustion of the people. Read between the lines. His lyrics are pure Monty Phyton, combined with jazz. Explore it.
