I really loved The Whistling by Rebecca Netley - bit of a gothic horror set in an old creepy house on a remote Scottish island. Great twists and it’s actually quite unsettling. Another good one was The Toll House by Carly Reagan which I believe is only 99p on Kindle right now.

You always give the best recommendations, thank you! I haven't heard of either of them but they're definitely added to the list ☺️

It's honestly my favourite reading month of the whole year, but that means I put way too much pressure on myself to get it right 😅 I hope you've been reading some good books of late ☺️

1:16 this just cracked me up😂! The only book with scary vibes that I will be reading is The Night Country by Stewart O'Nan. I never heard of it, but I found it in my library, and it intrigued me😊

I haven't heard of it either, but I'd love to hear how it goes for you when you've finished it ☺️

Sounds like an excellent season tbr. I read my doest Karin Slaughter for book club called Pieces Of Her, and I thought it was brilliant. I also love multigenerational books too. Have a great reading month!

That's great to hear. I really know so little about Karin Slaughter as an author so I'll happily dive in and see how I get on. I hope you're enjoying your reading month so far ☺️

🍁📚🍂📚🍁 I loved Uprooted, The Girl Who Drank the Moon and Nettle and Bone! I hope you enjoy them! I read Interview with a Vampire in my twenties and remember loving it, creepy! The scariest haunted house book I ever read (again, in my twenties)was The Amityville Horror by Jay Anson. Happy October reading.

I'm so glad to hear you have such good things to say about so many of these books. I'm in the middle of Interview with the Vampire now and it's SO good. I always forget about The Amityville Horror when I think of haunted house books - I still haven't read it. Thanks so much for the recommendation, and for watching ☺️

Hi Aisling, I read Uprooted because I was told it was similar to the Winternight Trilogy. It wasn't my type of cozy or historical fantasy and I unhauled it. Look forward to your thoughts on The Girl who Drank the Moon. I've been out of my Interview with the Vampire phase a long time. Am curious about Her Majesty's Royal Coven. After I finish Rewitched which I'm loving I'll read The Semi Detached House for Victober then an MG fantasy called The House with the Chicken Legs, a literary fiction called Sipsworth and a cozy fantasy novella The Lost Child of Lytchford (Lytchford #2).

That's a shame, Amy. Hopefully I have a little better luck with Uprooted. I hope that Rewitched continued to keep you thoroughly entertained as you read it. I'll be very curious to hear how you get on with your other reads at the end of the month ☺️

Lol at the Leonardo DiCaprio comment 😂 Im a new subscriber, just came across your channel. I think we have a very similar reading tastes! Uprooted, The Girl Who Drank The Moon, Nettle & Bone, Interview with the Vampire & Her Majesty's Royal Coven are all on my TBR 😂 My recs for haunted house stories are The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware, Just Like Home by Sarah Gailey and of course the classic Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson!

Thanks so much for watching! Haha snap, that's quite a bit of overlap on TBRs alright ☺️ Thanks for the recommendations. I haven't read The Turn of the Key or Just Like Home so will absolutely add them to the list. I fully adored The Haunting of Hill House 😍

Have you read Roshani Chokshi?! If not, you must read The Last Tale of the Flower Bride, it’s a sentient house book, perfect for autumn!! Her fantasy quartet The Gilded Wolves is also amazing. It’s similar to Six of Crows in that it’s a heist story with found family but with completely different dynamics! And I might join you for Interview with the Vampire 🤭

I haven't just yet, but it's been sitting on my Kindle for far too long. I've heard SUCH good things about it ☺️ I'm really enjoying Interview with the Vampire so far. It's not quite what I expected, but I mean that in a really good way 💛

I'm in the middle of it and taking it quite slowly and it's quite different to what I had expected, but I mean that in the best way. It is SO GOOD 🧛🏻♂️
