My first car was a orange and white roof EK. It still had the plastic on the door trims and seat. It just loved oil and also to boil. Sold it for three hundred bucks in 1972.

I bought an FB in 1977 for $50. Pretty much the same as the EK but for a few upgrades. Electric windscreen wiper motor was a plus over the vacuum effort. The grey was a slug and the body roll was a roller coaster. You’re lucky you got a rust free one. Really hard to find even after only a few years the hood over the lights would rust and the floor and the guards and…pretty much everything else. The brake slave cylinders had factory standard leaks. As a car they were really basic, but the masses loved them and Holden couldn’t get ‘em out the door quick enough. My Dad used to work on the line when they were doing the early Holdens and he fitted the doors. The cars would come down the line with the doors hanging or if he was lucky they actually shut. To get the doors to shut and the shut lines near equal Dad had a steel wedge and a 2 pound ball peen hammer. He could look at the door, open it, jam the wedge in the hinge aperture and belt the wedge until it bent the hinge just so until the door shut to specs (that weren’t that fine). If you look at the hinge aperture you might see a crease where the wedge bent the steel. The next bloke would then fit the door lock plate and adjust it so the door shut and locked. I think GMs were going for the 57 Chev look, but it did look anorexic. I agree ditch the buckets. I got a soft spot for the FB/EKs.

The shifter out of a ute or one tonner will fit with a bench seat, it has a bend that goes around the seat.

I do have a bench seat speco shifter but it will interfere with the original bench seat. I'm sure a new plan will present itself

Nice old car mate. I guess you are chasing the old "hotted up" look? Very tidy old girl to use as a base. She is/will be a cool ride.

Lucky the front bench seat came with the car Would be ok if you could find a original 4 speed shifter out of hz one toner Great car

Unfortunately no Aussie 4 speed shifter will work. But don't worry, I have a cunning plan 😁

@@revheadstherapyshed4751 I've seen old school 4 speed conversions where they cut a notch in the bench seat. Looks good if it's done properly.

I love the twin system, maybe quiet it down a bit. I would of cut the commo diff down. Eh diffs aren't strong.

Try and stick with 3 speed column shift if possible bench seat back in the more original the better well done so far
