I don’t think it was entirely Coal’s fault. He technically left her when he ran from the city, meaning he was single. He didn’t know that Katie would come to find him. He fell in love again after leaving his old life behind, and it isn’t his fault that Katie decided to come find him to reunite with him. He was single, he fell in love, end of story. This is my opinion on the topic.

Coal had a terrible backstory, he used to be that kind, caring, loving boy.. then his dad left his mother, then her mother couldn’t take sickness.. then it was going to Christmas, then coal was the top bad kids in Santa’s list, and Santa’s daughter was told to fix him, so then she dressed like a normal girl, she already hated coal at the start, coal was hard, then coal started to see magic from her, they kinda worked it out, then coal was getting dorms with HER?! They were getting closer and closer.. but then one time.... she had to leave to her place she belonged, coal was devastated.. he wasn’t the same after days she left, then when it was Christmas again... coal got a BIG PRESENT then he opened it.. SANTA’S DAUGHTER WAS IN THERE!! They kissed- Sorry that’s much I can do I couldn’t spoil the whole thing ya know
