My ONE Trick to Connect with FAMILY & Friends on My Disney Experience App

I've been using my husband's account and we are getting ready to go to Disney. Can I have my own account? We have other adult children that we bought tickets for, so they are on our account. How do we all have our own profiles and use the app individually? When I enter my ticket number or my account number with my unique profile and unique email it keeps giving me an error message that that account has already been set up.

Hi louise, Yes there is a way to do this. First make sure each of you have already created a my disney experience account with your own emails. Then what you need to do is have your husband log into his account and go to his family and friends list. From there he can go one by one to those who he manages, and click update on the right side of the page for each person one at a time. From there, click "Share Planning With Guest" and that will allow him to send an invite to merge the managed account with the account you made. That will then link all tickets, plans etc. I hope this helps

Hey Asha. If you switch the accounts from "Plans Managed By You" to each person having their own individual account the answer is yes. You'll each be able to make your own plans, go where you want, and use Genie+ separate from each other.

As long as you have your own account in My Dis eg Experience and you are linked to your family yes! BUT if you are managed by another family member you want be able to make plans in your own.

I really appreciate the video walkthrough, But is there a way to go to the park with out have to do all this app gymnastics.. i dont like taking my phone everywhere i go, plus my battery doesn't have a long life.

Glad you enjoyed it, and there is, the only thing you really need to do is make a park pass reservation, and show up to the park. The only precaution I would give you if this is what you decide to do, is to understand that you're park visit is going to be very different from those who have planned using the app, or are using disney genie+. There are plenty of days where I just show up to the park, and hang out, but I go with the expectations that I will be waiting in longer lines, it is going to be harder to get a sit down meal some where, as reservations will be booked, and really I am just there to take in the park, and not try to do the absolute most I can do. I find these days great cause it is very relaxing, especially since I am not trying to run around and do the absolute most in the park.

So my issue is, my wife and i are using the same account on our phones. Her phone shows the tickets and resort, mine don’t. I try to link the tickets to my phone but says they are already claimed

It sounds like you might have 2 accounts, one that you are logged into with your own email, and one that your wife is managing. You may need to merge the two accounts, or if you are both logged into the same account you need to log out and create an actual account linked to your own email

Hi Chris, excellent video. I have a question you may be able to help me with. I am travelling with a family of 11 in Aug. We all have tickets, and I have added them L to my family and friends list. We have all our park reservations and dining reservations made. I am currently set up to manage their profiles. My question is, can I now let them manage their own profiles ? If so how? Also are our park & dining reservations at risk when I do this? Thanks in advance.

Hey David, Thanks for watching, and so glad that this helped. You can actually merge their managed accounts with an account that they created and it shouldn't affect anything. If you check my reply to the pinned comment it explains exactly how to do this. Once you update the accounts it should transfer all of the plans that you have made for their managed account to their individual account. I hope that helps.

What if you manage all ur party members plans by myself and wanna use genie plus? Will they be able to use my account on their phone?

Other members that you manage should be able to log into your My Disney Experience on their devices and make plans for the whole party, but they will be logged in as you, they won’t be able to log in as themselves. If you are going to have others use it on their phone you are better off with everyone just making their own account. I will be making a video soon about accounts that you manage l, when to use them, and how to create them

When the person buying tickets via their MDX creates names for the additional family members that are going, what if those people try to set up individual profiles for themselves? Is there any issue with duplication when you try to link a group together for Genie+ and LL booking strategy?

Hey Samuel. So once you have them in your family and friends list, you can select which plans you want them to see, either all your plans, or plans that you share with them. You can also update any reservations you have, like park reservations, dining, or resort reservations, to include them. Simply go to your plans, click modify or update, and then you can update the party so that those who you are planning with will see the plans on their MDE account.

My biggest question no one can answer. I have an annual pass….family is coming to visit that booked their own reservation….how do I book us ALL together with lighting lane on genie plus?? Is it good enough to just manually add their names? They don’t physically have their tickets yet, so how does the park know they are in my party? So confusing.

Then not having their tickets yet is what is causing the problem. So in order to purchase Disney genie+ they will need to have their tickets and park pass reservations. Then you want to make sure you all are connected as friends and family. Then you will be able to purchase Disney genie+ at midnight the day that you are all visiting and you’ll see them as available to make plans with after you purchase Disney genie+ for the day. What if it’s 3 families ? And only one of each uses their email and the rest of the party is created manually within the app by the person who has an account? How do you connect everyone together ? Thank you 😊

Hey Kathleen, So you can still connect people together even if they are managed by someone else. Once you're connected as family and friends with someone who has an account linked to their email, you can then go in, and scroll to the bottom and click add guest. Then hit Find Through My connected Guests at the top. This let you connect to people that someone else is already connected with as a friend, or an account that someone else manages.

The Disneyland app is actually very different from the my Disney experience app we use at Walt Disney world. There is no friends and family list in the Disneyland app like there is in the my Disney experience app

So two people are not able to create separate accounts with the same email they will need to each create accounts with different emails and then you would use the email that they used for their account
