Hi there. Your video is inspirational for me. My story with guitar started back in 2012, but I did not get too far. I had a big problem with my self esteem, I just could not stand people hearing me while I was learning... All those wrong notes, or just me sounding bad because I was new to this. So I would play with headphones all the time. But I quitted. Now I have been working on my self esteem. My personallity has changed for good and I am going to pick up my guitar again, buy new strings and start practising. Thank you for the video 😊

I say way to go. I bought a guitar and 1974 I’m still playing today at the age of almost 70 years old that is. You may not know this, but reading music really helps a lot become familiar with the fingerboard of the guitar. Learn how to read music and chord charts you’ll go along way just remember this don’t take no short cuts. If you take short cuts, you will regret it you will say why didn’t I learn not to begin with I only hope the best for all of you. Good luck.👍🏼👍🏼🎸😄🎸

Thanks so much. I am glad you enjoyed my comment. Not to be bragging but most of these guys are teach on guitar on KZbin. I am older than the majority of them 50 years is a long time to play a guitar. To this day my average practice time is at least 4 to 6 hours a day. I could’ve made a career out of this, but instead chose not to. Don’t want to go through that hassle. I hope you have a beautiful day. Chat with you again soon.😃👍🏼🎸

What videos did you watch to help you learn guitar? Also what videos did you watch to learn arpeggios? And any tips for staying motivated?
@darbyparkermusic
@darbyparkermusic 5 ай бұрын
hi! i watched a lot of marty music and paul davids. cory wong might be a good person to watch for arpeggios and more jazz-oriented techniques and progressions. as for staying motivated, i struggle with this plenty! picking up the guitar for at least five minutes a day is a good rule of thumb though generally. you will find that you will oftentimes play much longer than 5 minutes, but sometimes that is all you need to stay fresh.

hello! thank you so much (: and i would say if i could do it over again i would learn songs, of course, but i would also try and build up finger strength to be able to do barre chords sooner because that really opens a lot of doors. you can also try finger exercises like the spider walk to build dexterity. most importantly, keep it fun!

@darbyparkermusic
@darbyparkermusic Жыл бұрын
when you’re doing barre chords make sure you’re making your barre as close to the fret as possible. this will help you get the cleanest notes. as for the muting, you may just have to keep practicing. when i first started with them i had to work really hard to build up my finger strength enough to do the barre chords. i hope this helps!
@imthemicro7080
@imthemicro7080 Жыл бұрын
Time and patience. Trying to bar right up by the nut for the f chord is one of the hardest bar chords you can do. Maybe slide down a couple of Frets so the tension isn't as bad. Only for a few weeks then work your way back. Also try to keep your thumb behind the neck for a few months at least. Don't wrap it round. This helps develop the muscle in-between your thumb and index finger which provides strength which helps bar 🤘

You're getting good at this! Although you do this thing, when you press the strings too hard and strings look like you bend them a little downwards. That's why most of your chords are not really in tune. But that's a super easy thing to fix, just try to press them as lightly as possible for them to sound "good enough" and you'll sound much better instantly! Good playing and tremendous amount of progress in a year!

I love this a lot! I got my first electric guitar about a month ago, I just haven't really played because I start to feel discouraged. It's so difficult for me to place my four fingers on four of the frets, especially for the lower strings, it annoys me so bad. It also really hurts me. If that was an issue of your learning, how did you deal with it? and what did you do to learn, did you watch youtube videos, use a book, or used applications that are meant for learning the electric guitar?

hello! yes this absolutely was an issue for me especially because i have perfectionist tendencies. however, i can suggest to start learning songs that may use only one or two fingers max (or ones with simpler chords). as for building dexterity and strength, it just comes with time. however, i used to do this one exercise called the "spider walk" a lot (you can look it up on youtube) and that really helped me reach across those bottom four frets a lot faster than just playing songs alone. i hope this helps. feel free to ask for claritification!
