I'm going to be buying some property, hopefully in the very near future, and a mill is going to be a necessity. With the price of lumber today, a mill of this caliber is an absolute no-brainier. You offer a very candid and honest review, thank you for your time.

Hello Joe ! Thank you for the video and the review. Our next sawmill will be a Woodmiser. The traction on our sawmiil is a major problem and the blade does not stay put and has to be readjusted constantly after each cut. Stay safe to you and Mrs Sally and to all your subscribers. after i got my sawmill, i learned that a bobcat with tracks is the cats meow. getting logs from the woods to the mill is harder than most people think and with a zero turn log moving machine it makes that chore easy. thanks.

Personally I would like a D4 but I have to travel over roads for logs and tracks wont work. But the bobcat with tracks fits the bill for sure if you have the mill in the right place.

I have watched slot of different mills and have considerable experience on circle mills. The LT 15 seems like a rock solid mill for its size with a easy to umstand operation. Most other mills are more difficult to get the accuracy that's built into the Woodmizer LT 15. Plus it's made in the USA where few things are these days.

Hi Jo. I have been watching your videos on and off in tree years now, and its some good pointers you come with. The lt15 is a durable and basic saw that works. As simple as that! I bought the lt15 because its welded in more or less all joints compered to a lot off others brands. I have a lt15 that is from 2004 and i do envy your hight adjustment system... It has changed tru the years i see. The tention system for the blade is also changed a lot, but for the best i don't know??? Saw dust excaust isn't a problem, as you have mentoined in some eariar videos. You need to claen the area and machine after work. Do you use the saw dust to something usefull or is it just going to the ground? I do milling as a hobby activity, and i enjoy the work from a tree in the forrest to a piece of wood on the wall ;-) I'm from the other side off the lake (norway) so i definently know the challange with snow and frost. I'm a bit lazy to the luberication when I'm sawing, but then again I sawing moustly frozen logs. Looking forward to some new vidoes from you, keep it up :-D __ Kjell

When I decided to get a mill I went to buy a Hudson farmboss 36. Of course the place didn't have any and I was told that they went up, from $4000 to $5000 that week. I had company from Florida that weekend and the guy said he could get 18 inch sheaves for 25 dollars. So I asked him how and he said he owned a wholesale industrial supply in Florida . He sold me all sheaves; pillow blocks and bearings at his cost. So as I had a supply of box tubing I built my own mill. The thing that I bought for retail was 6" chanel for the frame. As far as a large mill I liked the Timber Harvester, but that would mean that I would have to work every day to pay the $30000 +/- and I'm not that ambitious. What little labor in my mill and the $1500 in supplies, I have maid $40+ an hour with a manual mill. Of course I have a tractor with forks, and I put a 4500# winch to turn heavy logs. I've been thinking of getting a camera so as to show my machine. Good luck with your meds and pray with me for SUN.

I been running an alaskan chainsaw mill for the last 3 years on my homestead.... I finally had enough! Through that thing in the garbage, and drove down to woodmizer, said here is what I do, lets expect to do a little more than that so I can sell a little here and there to justify the cost, what do you got? And they led me to an LT15. I said SOLD, and wrote him a check then and there.
@robertdennis53184 жыл бұрын
Years ago, when I owned land, I had looked at woodmizer. They didn't have the LT15 then, rather a LT40. I had planned on thinging my woods, I would rather make lumber than just firewood. But a few years later, my partner ( brother ) stopped making payments. Evnetually the bank made me auction it off. . So it remained a regret. Watching you was hard at first. But I enjoyed them, now.

Unless you started milling logs near the max the mill is capable of on a regular basis, hydraulics would be a waste of money for what you do. Many people look at the board-foot production numbers a particular mill is capable of, but as you note ... someone has to put that lumber somewhere! Contrast your one-man operation with Linda's Sawmill Cinema (on KZbin). They run an electric , all hydraulic LT70 but they're also in a shop that's set up with roller tables to move lumber, an edger, and I've rarely seen less than 3 people working. Then there's Tom the Sawyer (on KZbin) ... he specializes in urban lumber, is mobile, runs a used Timberking B-20 (now the Timberking 2000), and doesn't handle the logs or lumber (he's retired and doesn't have to!). Keep doing what you're doing ... at least it's keeping you out of pool halls!
