Same except I had a ceiling fan in my bedroom that had two switches hanging from it that you pull down. For some reason the light switch on the wall wouldn't turn on the light unless I pulled down the light switch on the fan.

I see Nightmare Before Christmas as a Christmas movie because I pay attention more to the story format. The setup happens during Halloween, there’s a build up to Christmas and Christmas is when the climax happens. It revolves around Christmas so I see it as a Christmas movie-a Christmas story. I think people who call it a Halloween movie, the creator included, pay more attention to the setting and when you would more likely watch it. The movie evokes more of a Halloween spirit than a Christmas spirit. I guess you can say it’s a Halloween movie but a Christmas story.

i still think the movie is a Halloween movie because most Christmas movies revolve around a feel good story, or a message about giving, or something else with a Christmas, season-of-giving theme. The Nightmare Before Christmas is literally a Halloween anthem! it’s about Halloween pride and i love it for that

Not gonna lie, I'm pretty much in the same boat as you on all these points (slight exception on trick-or-treating, specifically I really enjoy making my own costumes (and yes I'm into cosplay as an adult now)). *But,* Halloween is still my favorite holiday by like, a mile and then some. I think it's just because, at least as far as western pop-culture-ified holidays go, Halloween is really the only that's just about having fun and nothing else. No waxing philosophical about gratitude and all that, no expectation of gathering up with every single person that's even remotely related to you, its just. Have fun. It's nice

I am basically the horrorweakest person you can imagine. Not only did I also scare myself once by hitting the left switch instead of the right one in the bathroom, so instead of it becoming bright there was just a loud "Whooooooooooooooo!" coming from my left (the switches are inside the bathroom, so I grab around the door frame to hit the switches). Yeah. And I cannot watch horror movies at all and even had to get out of Hamburg Dungeon early because it was too scary. And I have some near-traumatic memories of helloween fom when I was young, so I just skip celebrating it alltogether.

I never did trick or treating as a kid. In fact as an Aussie kid in the 90’s meant we never celebrated Halloween (it only became a thing around 2000’s and later on) . I only went to one Halloween party when I was about… 10 or 11 and the only tradition I had (which started during my time in University) was buying lollies or chocolate and watching KZbin… not always scary content but it has become a tradition around that time.

I remember that my elementary schools hold Halloween parties every year. Probably one of my favorite times of the year. In terms of costumes, one of the ones I remember was in 5th grade, where I dressed up as Batman. (The design of the costume was based on the "Dark Knight" movies if I remember correctly.) Parties: Yeah I can relate as I'm not very social either, and I have no friends. Scary movies: Never been a fan of the horror genre (or jumpscares) so I've never seen one. Also, the idea of watching one scary movie every day in OCT, why? Seasonal activities: Corn mazes aren't something I'd call a seasonal activity (I've been to some) but both them & haunted houses I'm honestly indifferent to. Trick-or-treating: Tried it a few times but it's something I almost never do thanks to a combination of never liking candy & no one doing it in my neighborhood.

Babadook is a good horror movie. It's not based on jump scares but a mental kind of scare. It's more creepy than scary, if you haven't seen it, it's a good movie to watch on Halloween.

Halloween is just something we do every year with my family. We live in a fairly sizable town, and every year they do a Trick or Treat event in the park where they have tables set up and you go in a big line while a band plays. It takes about half an hour to get through the whole line unless you show up early, so it's a little annoying, but not overly so. Then when we get home, we watch Hocus Pocus. I think you'd like it. As Halloween movies go, it's pretty soft, and honestly we always find ourselves laughing at it more than anything.
