the ultimate benefit to having brothers is when we're traveling by plane, my brothers always WANT the window seat (one gets motion sick, one just thinks they're cool) and since i'm the oldest and can behave in an aisle without my parents, i tend to get seated next to one of them. so it's aisle seats EVERY TIME and i am LIVING

I actually really appreciate the part about letting the people next to you know they can talk to you if they want. I travel once a year (on bus, though) and ever since I started doing it on my own and not with my parents, I always got curious about the now open empty seat that either of my parents would normally occupy. The problem is... no one takes that seat... ever. Every bus trip I remember taking was just me alone doing nothing, and the only two times it didn't happen, the first it was a girl who had no intention of making any kind of conversation (which is absolutely fine, of course. Just dissapointing... and slighty uncomfortable), and the second was the completely opposite. It was an old lady that would never run out of conversation topics, and she was incredibly nice too, so that one was good

One of my favorite short stories as a kid was "The Roads Must Roll" by Robert A. Heinlein, which explores the idea of replacing roads with moving walkways. There are a few problems with getting the walkways to work in a realistic sense (wind resistance at 65mph for one), but the story mostly revolves around a labor movement if I recall it correctly. Good read though.

One time on a flight back to my hometown for christmas with family, i was seated next to a sweet old man. He said he liked my hair (it was bright blue) and asked where i was headed, i mentioned the name of my hometown but not specifics. The airport i was headed to was an hour from my house and so i figured he'd ask where that was. Turns out he happened to be heading to the same town! I asked where in town since it was a relatively small one, and he lived about a block from my address though i never mentioned it. That was pretty cool. He seemed to catch on that i was young and it was my first flight so whenever an announcement came on, he'd make sure I heard it, and if the flight attendant asked a question i couldnt hear he'd tell me. I wonder what his name was, he was very kind.

The reason you aren’t aloud to smile is because every passport has a chip inside that keeps information like the width of you mouth or the distance between the nose and chin. Smiling might make it harder to tell your identity.

I literally had that moving sidewalk idea for my time at Job Corps in a class called TCU (Transportation Communications Union). Our teacher asked us to come up with an idea if alternative, eco-friendly ways of transportation aside from cars (big things like trains, ships, and planes were still a thing though), and my idea was the moving sidewalk that was powered by sun energy or wind energy, change the means of energy based on the environment really. Mine was the least unique XD

Jaiden's description of the moving sidewalks that get faster and faster the further over you go was also thought of by Isaac Asimov! Great minds think alike. Asimov's "The Caves of Steel" mega cities use them as the primary means of transport. They are like super highways and the fastest tracks go over 60mph and have covered seating - but they never stop. Very cool, Jaiden!

I know that animation of the plane just going straight-up to take-off at 2:59 was meant to be a visual joke, but there have been actual attempts to make jetliners that could more or less just take-off straight-up vertically like that. One example was the Hawker Siddeley HS.141, a concept/study from the 1970’s that would have used lift jets mounted in a row on either side of the fuselage (body) to take-off and land vertically. However, the concept never took off (yes the pun is intentional 👀) due to several factors, such as complexities in the control system, noise, fuel consumption etc., and the whole thing was cancelled without ever even entering the prototype stage.
