What if I said JK is taking AJ Bhairav stand per se, but on different issue altogether? When it comes to women safety, they argued whether to be selfish or selfless. In other words, to escape the problem selfishly eternally or solve it for good permanently. In former case, there would be still abuse happening to them but in latter, it would be miniscule if everyone is educated and made aware. Similarly, our society has always been patriarchal fuelled by all sorts of idiocracy like you know what. And certainly only after a great effort we have reduced female infanticide and foeticide. While comparing to west, persons be it rich or rationally aware ones can only hope to celebrate their offspring gender in their life. We can't disprove of their happiness and that's the way to go like being open about women's rights. But as of now, the idea not to disclose gender is holding it back temporarily and against the freedom for right persons instead of solving the stigma or societal norm of backwardness behind it. I agree this is the reality and as of now there's still the level of maturity that to be attained and so I go with temporary and universal solution. That said in both the cases only when there's enough literacy and awareness amongst people and the societal backward norms and taboos are broken, we can attain the true solution for this problem. We're just holding back the lever which is prone to failure any time now.

What fuel? Indians have gender reveal parties all the time outside India. Boy or girl, people celebrate it (although personally, I find such parties to be a waste of time) Where is the issue when the would-be parents themselves are okay with a girl baby? I understand the laws banning it in India was to prevent deliberately causing an abortion of the female foetus but when are we going to consider the fact that our society has come a long way from the dark ages? Banning gender reveals doesn't prevent female infanticide either nor does it automatically make some backward thinking people to not look down upon female babies, so how is that law even practical anymore? Are we going to focus on changing still-existing patriarchal views? Or are we going to get hung up on somebody having a gender reveal when both he, his wife and their respective families had 0 issue with the gender of their baby? Simply clinging to those laws is a hugely embarrassing admission that our country is still backwards! Personally, I feel we should move forward and get rid of those laws!
