I don't know if you like to try it, but I put a thin layer of Vaseline on my nose/cheeks/lips before I go outside when it snows or is windy. It gives protection and won't look shiny when it goes into the pores. Marilyn Monroe used to put Vaseline on her face to keep it very moisturized. It's cheap and works for me.

Your brownies looks a good consistency, be aware that sometimes we buy self raising flour, and sometimes plain flour which doesn't have baking soda or a raising agent. I am not sure how flour is sold in Siberia but that is something to check when using recipes from overseas. I asked one of my daughters about baking and according to her if you work the dough too much the gluten strengthens and makes cookies and scones chewy rather than crumbly. My mum who was 97 when she passed away last year adhered to this when making her scones (without knowing the technical reason) and they were light and fluffy. There are sites where they will give you measure equivalents. I have one on the back of a cupboard for reminding me what gas numbers mean in terms of temperature. Your diet is doing wonders for you, as you're looking so much better. A peeler would be a good addition to your kitchen, much safer. Do you read much? Who are your favourite authors? You are obviously very clever so which subjects interest you? By the way I was envious of your younger kids blow up sleigh....no more dragging a heavy wooden sledge up a hill. Still got a month but merry Christmas when it does come.

I grew up somewhere rather northward in Canada, not as far north as you, but still fairly northern, and whenever I see videos of northern Russia/Siberia, it reminds me so much of where I grew up. Similar trees, plants, landscape, lighting in the winter, food available in the grocery stores. Even many of the building styles look similar. I just find it interesting how people can live on the other side of the globe from one another, but if you are generally on the same longitude, things can look quite familiar.

If your kids like your brownies then all is well! I agree with lisad8388 that says you need a scale and do exact measurements. Baking is unforgiving. Get a smaller pan to cook the brownies. The big pan overcooked your brownies. Now, there is a chemical reaction going on with baking. You have to have 2 bowls. Combine the dry ingredients in one and combine the "wet" ingredients in another. Then you combine together. It creates a reaction that will help your brownies or even cakes rise correctly. Now with icing. It does matter between powdered sugar and regular sugar. If you don't have enough powdered sugar then just don't make as much and ONLY use the powdered sugar. A good and simple icing is just one cup of the powdered sugar, maybe a tablespoon of milk or even water and some vanilla and stir. If you want to make a butter cream frosting do NOT ever melt your butter. Use room temp butter and put in a bowl then add the sugar and beat it. Add vanilla and you're good to spread. I hope this helps!

Himalayan salt is a scam. There is no salt mine in the Himalayas. The salt comes from Khevra, a huge salt mine in Pakistan that was developed by the British in the 19th century. Himalayan salt is just ordinary, completely overpriced rock salt.
@roku_shiv493823 күн бұрын
You idiot, salt when extracted in form of giant rocks, has a pink colour ( sometimes light pink with purple tinge). Majority of mines are located at the foothills which are an extension of Himalayas since Pakistan has occupied a 1/4th of Kashmir hence those are called Himalaya salt. Regular salt is manufactured from naturally occurring salt lakes. Some countries also manufacture salt from sea water.

I'm 62 and i can say, having the right tools for cooking and baking can make all the difference. Buy a scale. They're not expensive at all. Buy measuring cups (dry and liquid), and measuring spoons. A big glass or Pyrex mixing bowl should last years. One thing to remember, when BAKING, accurate measurements/weights are a must. Good luck, I watch your channel every week. 😊💖

I kept yelling at the screen when I saw her using a regular spoon for measuring tablespoons! Lol P.S. brownies aren’t supposed to raise much and brownies are normally WAY too sweet. If it’s not sweet enough then it’s not a brownie, probably just cake

@izibear4462Ай бұрын
All of these above. Baking is scientific so accuracy is important when first starting out. With experience you learn how to change some things so it works but to start with, it pays to be accurate. A digital scale is a must. Also, if you invest in a really good peeler, you will save in the long run as you will not discard so much and will last forever. P.s. glad you have a new knife. 😊

I really like the peaceful home scenes of your channel, so nice and relaxing. When you bake, you have to measure really accurately and level off each measure. It’s not accurate enough to just dip in a regular spoon or eyeball the butter. For dry and liquid ingredients, I use measuring cups and measuring spoons, but I know some people prefer to use a scale instead. Where I live, the butter package comes with markings printed on it to show you where to cut it.

Hello and nice to see everyone again. I have a suggestion for your dry skin. When we were young my Nana used to rub extra virgin olive oil at night lightly on our hands and face for my sister's and I had very dry cracked skin in the winter. She did this three times a week and it helped so much. I still do it today and people always cannot believe how old I am for it helped my skin stay smooth and subtle. I really believe it has to do with the oil itself. I also use a plain lotion called Jerkins original lotion, it's inexpensive and has never caused issues with my very dry skin. Of course in the morning we washed our face in a oatmeal soap which also helps and I still do this every day. Wishing you all good health and a lovely weekend, take care. 🌻

You look so happy, Nastya! And I'm happy for you. It's good to see you snug in your home with your boys. Forgive me, I need to help. With baking, the *most* important thing is measuring exactly. Buy these: Liquid measuring cup (milk, etc). Dry measuring cups (ex: flour). Measuring spoons. Weight scale, doesn't have to be fancy. If you measure everything correctly (including your pans) your baking will improve 100%.

First, you're certainly an excellent cook! You and your family eat very well, and I love that you avoid processed foods! Well done! Regarding the frosting, while you're learning, avoid substitutions and follow the directions precisely -- I was yelling at my computer when I saw you substituted regular sugar for powdered sugar! LOL. Also, try adding the dry ingredients into the melted butter very, very slowly, a small amount at a time, and mix thoroughly as you add them. That might help the texture. But as long as your child wants brownies every day, I'd say it was a success! Love the videos! Keep them coming!
