my ORDINARY morning routine as a wfh software engineer 🌱 | 2023 | productivity

maintaining a decent work life balance can be difficult when you work from home 🏡 after 1+ years working asynchronously for a software company, i realized the way i start my mornings positively or negatively dictates the outcome of the rest of the day (EVEN the rest of the week 😳)
so here's my 2023 morning routine 🌱 it's nothing flashy, but doing this everyday gives me energy, increases my productivity, and makes me feel fulfilled. enjoy :)

random thoughts:
voiceovers are much harder to do than i'd thought 😅. i realize i stutter or pause a lot when talking about even slightly more technical things. also making sure that what i say is constrained to the length of the clip comes with its own set of challenges.
hopefully by doing this more often, i can also get better at public speaking/everyday conversation. oh, and props to people who can do podcasts.

Really cool day in the life video! And I really love how you carve out some devotional time in your mornings and aren't ashamed to share it. I'm also a developer and work from home 2 days out of the week. My daily standups are pretty early, and are usually what starts my work day, so I try to wake up about 1 hour beforehand, and I have some quiet time in my Bible then. Awesome seeing more people of faith in the tech industry! Keep fighting the good fight 😁.

I have always wanted to get a job in front end, UIUX but I have been turned down from so many I kinda just stayed in my current job. Do you have any tips of interviewing or just studying habits? I know it sounds silly but I feel that I took a lot of courses, went to school and am just still mediocre even when I feel I get better at coding. ALSO, love the video style!! Really relaxing and soothing!

I would recommend creating a web app as a project if u can! Or a website. If ur working in front end, you’ll have to communicate with backend and infra engineers too, so that’s why it’s important to know the full stack imo.

For studying, I would try sending api requests/parsing api responses and leetcode. For interviewing it’s important to be likable. I bought an interview course off Udemy for like $15 and focused on the subjects I was lacking on. It helped A TON.

The chair is really comfortable and breathable. Best chair I've ever bought, but quite expensive. I'm not an audiophile but the speakers sound clear and crisp to me, and are more than loud enough for a desk setup or a mini room party XD
