There is a Christian metal artist named Lacey Sturm. In an interview with her and her former band Flyleaf, she was asked why she chose metal music. Her response was "I want to be a light in the darkness". That response had me sold on listening to everything she she recorded. Tom is very similar he could get his message out any other way but he chooses a genre of music that will reach the most people. Obviously he loves rap music, you can tell in his videos that he thoroughly enjoys it, but what is more important is getting the message heard.
