Viet Nam Veterans were exposed to Agent Orange, a type of defoliant.
The association between exposure to herbicides or pesticides (such as Agent Orange) and Parkinson's Disease (PD) is not proven. Yet, PD has been determined by the VA to be a service-connected disability for those who were stationed in Viet Nam. It is important to understand that although there is an 'association' between exposure to AO and the development of PD, the cause is still not proven. It is important to understand not everyone exposed to AO develops PD, and not all PD patients have been exposed to AO.
