I live in the Odessa Florida area and I just had to catch 10 Muscovy babies to keep them from being caught and euthanized! I live in a townhouse and can’t keep them. The hoa was going to have them trapped and euthanized as they were seen as a nuisance. I found a home for 5 but still have 5 that need a home!!Please message me if you can take them!! Where do you get your snappers from? (Atleast in Canada) it’s illegal to keep native turtle species. Turtles also can’t eat on land if they do so without sucking up water they can choke and unfortunately die.

Back in 1970's my dad brought home a wild snapping turtle. The turtle would get out of his enclosure and disappear. I would always find him in the pool skimmer. The turtles shell fit snug into the skimmer with his head always pointing up. I always had to use our foot long pliers to pull him out. Now I know one foot pliers are not long enough, but he was never able to snapped me. He expired because we treated him like a box turtle, which they are not. This October 2021, I almost stepped on a common, wild, baby, snapping turtle outside our garage. I captured him, and was worried he would die. We had problems in the beginning, but after two weeks Rufus is doing great with the help from KZbinrs like you. A bit of maintenance involved, but Rufus is never boring. Rufus snaps like a snake when he eats. Rufus is so cool, and he is only 3 inches long. Rufus looks like a baby dinosaur with a big, long head, and long tail. Rufus likes his massages to warm up. I hope he stays small. Right!
