Thank you Dr Amina, I am thinking about going into teaching and it was nice to see such a positive take on how to deal with the challenges of teaching. You are clearly very hard working, organised and emotionally intelligent. Your students are blessed to have you as a role model.

I'm just going into my NQT yearcand found this really helpful, I also studied in sheffield for my secondary science PGCE this year! I had a terrible time on my sandwich placement school so it's nice to know it's not just me that hasn't loved every school I have been in, they're so different, teaching in Doncaster next year

I was really thinking about teaching last night and whether I want to go into it. I'm currently a music teacher in a nursery which I love but I'm thinking of future job prospects and money too. Most important for me is sharing love for music and all the benefits from that with children and young people. I just am concerned by the stress levels I hear about from teacher friends/ex teachers. And the work-life balance... I really appreciate that you keep a boundary for work staying at work.

Thank you for this! I'm 23 and am now looking at university as my next step, I will be applying in September. But I know a PGCE to qualify as a drama teacher is a route I would like to go down, and this has been really useful to know what it's like to do a PGCE.

"Perfection doesn't exist" This should be my mantra lol. Thank you and may Allah bless you for another great video! I admire your worth ethic and how you carry yourself (Allahumma Barik Laha). As a fellow East Afrikan woman who is going into teaching you inspire me. I live in the U.S. and found this information to be highly valuable to me as well. I've been needing some inspiration as of late haha.

Hi Amina, this is a really interesting video - thanks so much for making it! I am currently enrolled in a PhD programme and I am not very happy, after years of assuming academia would be the route for me I am unsure if this is actually going to be my best suited career path. I am considering teaching after I complete my current course. Could you speak more in the Q&A about why specifically teaching at a high school age was more suited to you than working in a University setting? I also wonder if you can speak a little more about the PGCE experience - where you trained and how you funded this process? Thanks so much for this interesting content :)

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته I’m so glad to watch this video 🥰 I need your advice about how to become English and math teacher in primary, secondary school or college in the UK. I’m 33 years old mum for 2 kids I’d like to finish my education to be English and math teacher I’ve done my studies back in my country in 2007 so I’ve to start again from zero 🥴. The courses for this year ESOL level 1 and math level 1 functional skill I’ve been offered to do pre access to higher education too happy to do it this year. And next year will carry on with math and English plus access higher education and then 3 years teacher course in the University I don’t know about PGCE OR QNT stand for if they’ll help me for my education to a qualified teacher!!! Please help me to answer my inquiries 😅 It is to different how to it in the UK than Middle East

Thank you so much for a really helpful tips. This October I'm going to start training/working as teacher inshallah, I have zero experience in teaching since my background is clinical Laboratory Sciences. I used to teach my colleagues when we studied together back at Uni & thats it. My passion for education and making change has led me to teaching. I'll be taking PDQ from Cambridge Uni by the end of February inshallah. Q1: I wanted to know the difference between PDQ and NQT? Q2: Do you have any tips for a person who decided to focus on the academic/Educational career rather than clinical career when you have everyone around you doubting your decision and not supportive? You are a real Inspiration. Thank you Dr. Amina . Greetings from Saudi Arabia

Hi This was absolutely informative and helpful. I'm currently in a non-teaching job and thinking of taking a PGCE after this virus lockdown is over. My desire is to go with primary years as I think younger children are easier than teenagers but my background is finance and economics. I would love to teach Economics but I'm not so sure I can appeal to the big kids. Btw, they're all taller than me!! Any thoughts?

How many hours a week would you say a typical maths teacher works? I see all these articles saying teachers work 60+ hours a week but I can’t see how a maths teacher would need to work this many hours? Also, you mentioned about reinventing the wheel and preparing resources, are you not allowed to use the resources that are out there? For example, from white rose maths, mr Corbett maths, twinkle etc

Thank you for sharing your experience. Is the NQT year paid by your employer? How easy is it to find a school? How long between PGCE and passing your NQT year did you get qualified status? I have been told you need to pass NQT otherwise you can lose QTS status. Is that right?
