In this video, you'll witness my PhD convocation at the University of Ilorin on October 23, 2023. Starting with the grandeur of dressing in full convocation regalia, including the hood and cap, I joined fellow PhD graduands for the procession before 7 a.m. The day began with heartwarming melodies performed by the University of Ilorin's Department of Performing Arts, and the joyous dancing set the tone for the memorable day.
As we, the graduands, took our seats, Professor Feyi Adepoju, our MC, announced the procession of the University Senate Members, followed by the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, University Registrar, Bursar, Librarian, and invited Vice Chancellors. We were also honored by the presence of distinguished individuals such as Dr. Yusuf Sununu, the Minister for State of Education, and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi.
The official ceremony commenced with singing of the Nigerian national anthem, followed by the University of Ilorin anthem. What's remarkable about the university's anthem is that I've listened to it over a thousand times, yet it never fails to bring tears to my eyes, a testament to the deep emotional connection I have with my alma mater.
Both the representative of the President and the Vice Chancellor of UNILORIN delivered inspiring speeches that resonated deeply with all the graduands. They spoke of our academic journey and the bright future that awaited us.
One memorable part of the event was when each of the more than 320 PhD graduands was called forward one by one to shake hands with the Vice Chancellor. However, my name was not pronounced correctly, which momentarily heightened my tension.
Also, the graduands, solemnly recited an oath, pledging our enduring loyalty and respect to our beloved alma mater. It was a beautiful and emotional occasion, where my lifelong dream of earning a PhD became a reality.
Kindly watch this video until the end, experience the journey with me, and share in the emotions. Please don't forget to like and share the video, and I'd greatly appreciate it if you could leave a congratulatory message in the comment section. Your support means the world to me.
