The streets of Stoke Newington in the late 1970s were very different than what we know today. Mark Barnes, who grew up in Stoke Newington until 1980, became increasingly interested in photography and began recording local scenes, especially the many abandoned or interesting cars in the area, from the age of seventeen when he bought a second hand Yashica Lynx. In this talk, Mark shares some of the photos he took around Stoke Newington in the late 70s.
Mark Barnes has worked in the media since 1975 where he has specialised in photographic archives for longer than he cares to remember. He is published author with books, print media and online work under his belt in addition to working as a freelance photographer. He lives in Essex.
