Ugin's Binding is rated way too high. It's a card that requires setup, that's vulnerable to graveyard hate, that dilutes the artifact density for the 7 drops Binding wants to be played with, and the payoff ends up being not even good against most decks [control decks actually don't care, Murktide barely cares due to creature cost, Tron/Valakut/Amulet mostly don't care, burn doesn't care, etc.]. Affinity already dominates the board as its win condition, it doesn't make sense to make the deck less consistent to dominate the board harder sometimes in the late game. If there is a deck that might want it, it would be some kind of big Eldrazi list that needs it to catch up, but I'm not sure since the most promising avenues for Eldrazi pre-release appear to be aggro lists and the Sowing Mycospawn lists that barely play enough 7 drops to enable Ugin's Labyrinth. The Dingo/Spike stream really showed off Unstable Amulet though, I think that card's an easy top 5.

Nadu with saga, grazer, flare of cultivation, eldritch coco. This could be a turn 3 type of list. Seems fun. Lots of different different directions. Coco seems like a great card for this deck. And saga seems like it can slot in pretty easily with grazer for value

Sultai Control with the new two mana Jace to pitch omniscience and find your payoffs. Toxic Deluge make black control possible along with damnation. You can also run ancestral visions to refill your hand. Early game you play tarmogoyf, hand disruption, and removal.

Merfolk player here. I dont think Flare will bring back Silvergill Adept. Adept went extinct due to Bowmasters. But super excited for our new additions, I think we can handle the Eldrazi fine.

Something else that's important to note with Planar Genesis is the rule of 8...once you can run 8 copies of an effect, you can start building around it a lot easier. The fact that you can now play basically 8 copies of Growth Spiral enables you to build a gameplan around consistently ramping lands while threatening interaction from turn 2 on, which i think is very powerful.

Guide of souls I think is being a bit underrated cause historically soul sister effects aren't super impaction but man every time I read that card it gets more busted to me

No, you dont. He made a mistake, X only correlates to the energy produced by the spell. You can pay any amount of energy you have regardless of what X may have been paid into the spell

The way I read it the x cost is just to produce energy. So if you already have energy stored up it can be used to pay for the spell and have theoretically have a 2 mana wrath

Wrath of the skies can still be paid for WW if you already have energy. The X mana is just to allow you to make energy if needed. Good card for energy

Necrodominance will be a very interesting add to the Black Burn deck, apart from that idk if Modern has a powerful home for it.

While strong, Eldrazi is not as powerful as you guys are thinking. You’re also all crazy for sleeping on flare of malice, the lowest opportunity cost, second strongest effect of the flares. Also while not top 20, sneaky snacker + psychic frog + prized Amalgam with 8 flares is broken

Eldrazi certainly getting a good leg up, but I think people are over hyping how good they will be via overlooking the improvements the other strong decks get such as yawg etc, or the new decks that will emerge.

1R 2/1 First Strike that draws a card and makes 1-2 mana not quite on that broken S tier. This is Burning-Tree Emissary with draw. This card is absolutely broken to the extreme. It really does not matter if there is a floor of hitting a removal spell. You can construct your deck so that this will always hit. You are thinking it wrong that this goes into energy decks. No it goes into every aggressive red deck with a low curve.

I think Ugin's Binding is a trap. Cyclonic Rift is just not that powerful when you jump through hoops. A ton of the time your opponent can just recast everything for 2-4 mana, and you maybe bought yourself a turn. You maybe get a blow out against Constructs or some other board states, but you're playing Cookbook and casting 7-drops. And the hardcast is kind of awful. On the other hand, I think the hardcast for Flare of Cultivation/Denial are way underrated. Cultivate and Cancel variants have absolutely seen constructed play in the past, and Denial can even hit creatures. Devourer of Destiny being a legit removal spell when you've ramped up is also highly relevant. I don't really think Planar Genesis will replace Growth Spiral. You're playing Growth Spiral for the ramp, but Spiral is great in your opening hand since your deck plays a large amount of lands anyway. Being able to dig a bit towards your pay-offs while using one of the lands from your opening hand is phenomenal. It's similar to Arboreal Grazer, just with more additional value in addition to the ramp. Planar Genesis can certainly be a ramp card but you have to choose between ramping and card draw, and it makes the lands in your opening much worse - you can't use them to ramp, and if you have a lot you'll want to find a spell but get no turn 2 ramp at all. Bristly Bill is a pretty playable card that can help Nadu a lot when you don't have Shuko.

i think you can target Grief with Not Dead After All, after it resolves you sac it to Phyrexian Tower before evoke trigger resolves and you get both the two black mana and a Grief in play

Primal prayers is SUPER busted. The issue i see people glossing over is the ability to play cards with as though they had flash. So you play prayers, opp tries to destroy it, go off in response. People not used to OG aluren will have a hard time dealing with that line of text.
