Web programmer here, every attempt to load a page is considered a request, but also all the assets etc can also be considered requests. If you wanted to give a false impression, counting every request from just 1 page load could easily be 20, 50 even 100 requests etc (you can view them in the Network tab in developer tools), they probably counted all these to make it seem more popular than it was. Refresh this page with the Network tab open (CTRL+SHIFT+J for Windows / CMD+SHIFT+J for Mac - be sure to click Network) and start to scroll down the comments, you can easily be sending over 300 requests to KZbin in just seconds as it starts to load stuff in the background.
