GREAT vid, I am also in canada and always hated fixies but started getting into them this month and feel like I've just been a hater and missing out. The best parts are the Boker AK1 just came in and it's my first fixed so I'm glad to see it in here, that and I don't have any boker folders...I actually don't like them at all but the knife's shape is perfect to my style. I also like the Gerber principle. I never thought about getting a gerber I was so sad when i saw the knife and zoomed in and saw it was a gerber haha. it'll be a good lookin beater

I grew up carrying an axe and a three bladed folding knife in the woods and I spent a LOT of time there. Haven't really gotten into the pocket fixed blade thing but often my wilderness carry is no longer the old stand by! I don't even own a three blade folder....oh dear....

Hey Jonny. To answer your question, I prefer a full four finger grip but find for opening packages/mail and cutting fruit etc a three finger grip is sufficient. Keep an eye on Work Tuff Gear’s website to find out when the next drop is. You truly can’t go wrong with anything they make.

Great assortment of blades there, Matt. Hard to pick a favorite from that bunch. Really liked the Medford and Winkler for overall use and design. Definitely really liked the nice thick leather of the giant mouse sheath and how could I not like the custom sheath for your Gerber? Very cool. Have you seen the Gerber Terracraft? Lots in common with the principle but a little bigger and beefier and comes with nice leather sheath. Love the Wyatt Hines blades too!

You have some atypical steel preferences. Would you really have preferred D2 to (well heat treated?) Elmax? And you’re favorite stainless is CPM-154?! What factors decide your preferences, I’m curious?

Typically I prefer steels that I can easily re-sharpen. A good carbon steel is easier to sharpen (and tougher) than stainless steel. Of all the stainless steels, CPM154 is super tough and fairly easy to sharpen. Steels that require fancy diamond stones and or belt grinders to sharpen do not interest me.
