Definitely agree that it's time to focus on older era cards. This year I'm planning on getting back to working on my Kimura collection. As well as picking up some pieces for retro decks! There's a lot to go after. Gym Challenge/Heroes might actually get a lot of the limelight this year because of Journey Together. It's probably something worth going after sooner than later. I believe this to be so because of so many creators making the comparison of new and old bringing attention to the Gym era. I'd like to be wrong, but we'll see.

Sweet I can’t wait to see your Kimura collection come along! I have been a little worried about it but the vibe of Journey Together definitely feels totally different than gym heroes and challenge to me. I guess we’ll see if they heat up or not. I do think the vast majority of the market is not into vintage. I did pick a bad time to go after the gym sets though lol. But I’ve been wanting to do it for awhile and it’s time to get it done. Hopefully if they heat up it’s only slight and not a huge surge in popularity. I bet certain cards will jump up, especially graded ones.

The rumor is 151 is reprinting between march and June. Great video. Have to say I agree with most everything you say. Was literally saying some of it along with you as you did. Really really want to finish my 151 set and I need paldean fates to drop some because I am chasing that Akira Egawa Zard and of course the bubble mew and a few others from that set. My investing strat is buy what’s cheap and sell when it gets higher. Lol. Solid advice from me , a non-investor. Hahaha

The wonderful aspect about the Pokémon TCG is that because it has been going for such a long time there are many cards to collect when current sets are expensive/hot. My collecting goals for this year include some vintage but mainly modern. I’m currently saving up to purchase a holo Dark Charizard in either a PSA 7 or a PSA 8. I’m curious to know what your thoughts are on graded cards (maybe a topic for a future discussion video)? For vintage graded cards, I like to collect anything in a PSA 7 or higher. For modern graded cards, I collect mainly PSA 9. If I had to collect and complete a vintage set, I would focus on the Team Rocket set. The artwork from that set is impeccable, and it was the first set to introduce the cosmo holo pattern in the TCG. I also love the artwork from the Southern Island mini set that was introduced before the Neo era. The Mew artwork from that set is one of my favorites of Mew in the TCG. Also, do you plan on purchasing the golden Giratina from crown zenith this year? I can feel the frustration that you’re experiencing at the end of your opening videos. 😂

I totally agree it’s awesome and endless the things you can chase and collect! When something is too hot there is always something else being overlooked. Awesome the Dark Charizard is such an iconic card! That will be a fantastic pickup in a psa 7 or 8. I love graded cards! They are my favorite way to collect actually. With vintage I think the more expensive and popular the card, the lower on the psa scale you can go and the card still hold value well. With modern psa 10’s do hold a nice premium because people chase the conditional rarity. The 9’s rarely have that premium and usually sell close to the raw price. So if you don’t care about the conditional rarity and just want a mint card protected in a slab, 9’s are amazing value. I love Team Rocket! I’ve had that set 99% complete for years lol. I just need non holo dark charizard to finish it off. The southern island artwork is fantastic and fun! I got the Japanese set back in 2013/2014. The English is definitely more desirable among collectors. Haha well I normally don’t chase specific cards in packs this much but I’ve had fun with crown zenith and enjoy filling up my master set of the Galarian gallery cards. The Tina has got to be in one of these boxes right?! 😂

Southern Island is awesome! I got the Japanese version of the set back in 2014. Love the artwork so much!

@@mikli1018 no I have them in a binder. Wish I had kept them sealed. I didn’t used to keep anything sealed years ago sadly. I ripped jungle and fossil packs in 2013 I badly wish I still had sealed. :(

@@mikli1018 I usually try to at the end of the video but sometimes probably forget. I should maybe consider moving it to the front of the video. I just hate making people wait for the actual content at the beginning.

One piece of advice I can give for the vintage master setting… grab some of the chase cards first. It’s the only way you will complete it. I started a master of neo genesis last year and started with all the common, uncommon, rare and picked up foils as I found them cheap. But now I’ve got just the lugia, typhlosion and meganium left, some of the most expensive cards in the set and I just can’t make myself buy them lol.

Agree. Cool down q425 - swsh era will run the next 5 years. I bought a etb case of shrouded fable & sv base set. At 35/ box & the lack of interest, these sets will run. Never buy what's hot. always buy what people are ignoring.

Haha to be fair I’ve always talked up Paradox Rift! It’s my favorite S&V set! So good and so under appreciated it’s sad! But I do think in time it will get the appreciation it deserves!
