Girl, I don't know how you manage to not buy a ton every month! I won't even touch PPU because my brain and wallet would just implode with all the options. It's not safe for me, lol. Also I second your opinion on Cadillacquer's The Killing Moon! If they NEED to make that without the thermal orchid change, it's STUNNING. 💜 Kudos on talking yourself out of so many pretties.

I had to talk myself out of several colors just based on the shade names or the inspiration. I have been buying thermals even though I know they don't always last as long but if I can wear it a few times before it dies I'll be happy.

Love these videos, I love hearing your thought process as you shop. I know you got a blue shimmer for toppering - try it over Devil's Ivy! I put Boolba over it and the blue shimmer is what primarily shows up and it goes with the green so well! I did it with the velvet effect :) I love this theme but I'm also bummed because my favorite game series, Dragon Age, isn't represented. I also um...disagree with the color choices for the Astarion polishes. (Dude's a vampire and loves blood and we have no blood red?) As for my own wishlist I know I want the Garden Path (they've just been working it, I wore Woodland Nap from last month and LOVE it), Clionadh (another Final Fantasy inspired one btw), and KBShimmer. I really like the Bluebird and the Psyche Minerals but I'm on the fence about both.

:0 omg thats genius!! i def should try that combo. i think a few months ago i tried layering a blue shimmer over cirque’s Jade Jelly hoping it would be similar to Boolba but it was kind of a letdown, and i never tried to layer it again lol so maybe i need to get more creative with diff bases! i do remember reading a lot of ppl saying Boobla was SUPER sheer too so they also needed to layer it over a green. but i never thought of layering over a magnetic, how fun!! but aw i’m sorry there were no Dragon Age inspired polishes :( and omg was there another Astarion polish too? i can see why Ethereal went with the white base bc i feel like i always hear him referred to the one with white hair lmao but yeah it feels like a missed opportunity not doing red! even red shimmer in white would’ve been a fun mix. i keep hearing such great things about Garden Path!! they really have done some beautiful PPU polishes these last few months 🤩 i love how vibrant and colorful your wishlist it, Selkie is beautiful & the KB too! the Psyche is gorgeousss, i didn’t realize it had such a strong blue shift to it. the Bluebird is such a stunning red too, but tbh i think that one has a better chance of being duped in the future 🤔 i guess it depends how much you love Banjo Kazooie lol

As always excited to see what you have on your wishlist Stefanie 💖. This month was kinda odd for me as I am so not into video games, I am familiar with Mario and pals and Pak Man and I heard of Final Fantasy and Kirby but that‘s it. So I went in completely oblivious to the references and ended up loving so many 🤣. And then PPU is always my gateway to many brands I else wouldn‘t be able to get my hands on. I adore the Sassy Cats formula: to me they perfected a saturated plump crelly base with shimmer. This month‘s creation is not on my wishlist however! I am not allowed to buy more light to mid-tone blues. My must-haves are All Mixed Up Lacquer, Pinneacle, Bluebird and Envy Lacquer

that’s so funny that even though you weren’t fully invested in this month’s theme, you still enjoyed a lot of the polishes! totally agree PPU is a great way to try new indie brands, i’m very excited to pick up Sassy Cats, especially after hearing you love their shimmer crelly formula! it does look super plump 😍 another commenter did mention it might be easy enough to recreate, maybe with a blue shimmer over cirque’s Lagoon Jelly which i do have.. but i don’t want to regret missing out on it like i did with Boolba 🙈 I commend you for skipping it, you already gave such a beautiful wishlist anyway! ✨

The one that really caught my eye is the Garden Path Lacquer. That Blue is so gorg! I cannot resist. And then the firey orange/red that Beaux Reves did…but I may pass because I feel like I prob have a Sweet &Spur Lacquer that is so similar. The Lucky 13 also looks super pretty. I hope I can see some more swatch photos of that! The pink is so gooooood! 💖

I was looking at Lucky 13 too, until I saw that ir is a glow-in-the-dark... which is a NO for me. I got one from Mooncat and it was ok during the day and evening, but when I went to bed, I had literally 10 night lamps on my fingers and had to keep them under the comforter all night.

Oh gosh I had so much fun watching your video!! I usually don’t care for PPU since I live in Canada, and the shipping makes it hard for me just to order 1-2 polishes each time. But this month’s theme definitely piqued my interest (also a casual game-enjoyer and not a “gamer”). I did have some fun going thru the site and guessing what’s the polishing is referencing. I agree with you that I think I like the theme of each polish more than the polish itself. Several times I had to stop myself and asked if I actually like the polish or because I really like the game it’s based on. I did like Final Fantasy and Seaside Kingdom that you picked out - definitely stand outs for me. Careful I Bite is cute too! Though as an aside - I think you would enjoy BG3. It’s turn based, and very plot heavy - kinda like FF. I initially found it such a hurdle to get into the game, but once I got familiarized it was very fun. I also hear you about Stardew Valley and the time crunch. I grew up playing Harvest Moon, and found it very stressful to try to get all the chores done within a day - but once I realized that there’s no rush and I could accomplish the same stuff within one vs 10 in-game years and it wouldn’t make much difference, then I learned to slow down and enjoy the game itself.

The lucky 13 and sassy cats polish are in my wishlist. Along with the sovereign beauty's because it's based on Gengar, my fav Pokemon, and swamp gloss's solar polish. There weren't as many video game references that were like for me, but there are still enough pretty ones that I know I need to be careful not to let my list grow.

oh i wonder if you’ll like What’s Up Nails Temperamental Iris?? it’s a thermal that has more or less the same warm orchid color with blue iridescent flakes, but transitions to a more medium purple in the cold state so a lot lighter than Cadillacquer! i realized after why the Cadillacquer felt familiar lol. but yeah i wish there were some more like niche references i guess, i saw a lot of Mario themed polishes so it just felt more on the basic side.. but yeah still really pretty polishes!

I just got my first Lumen polish and used Soft Focus Snow from Polished For Days and it worked nicely! I plan to get Lumen’s and use as a topper 💜 probably be able to dupe the Penelope Luz.

Yay was waiting for this video! I have the Danglefoot, Lucky 13, Lumen, Sweetheart (even tho it’s not showing on the site yet, I saw swatches from Cosmetic Sanctuary and it’s a very pretty shimmery yellow), Whatcha, and Wildflower on my wish list. Very spring inspired! I may drop the Lumen bc I feel like I might be able to get something similar with just Glass Frog and a scattered holo topper. And I agree with the Wildflower, I’m sooo tempted bc of the neutral base and bright shimmer but it really does look flat in some pics 😕 I think the Sweetheart and Whatcha are my top picks… today anyway 😂

This month really has some stunning polishes! I have 5 that I'm thinking about grabbing after some intense wishlisting & paring down: loving the Phoenix, BKL, Rogue, Dany Vianna, and Vanessa Molina! I try to stick to max 3 polishes as I'm trying (but failing) to keep to a low buy, but I feel like I want all of them so bad! I'm definitely a sucker for swampcore vibes and also blues and purples are my weakness 😅 Also that Sassy Cats and Ethereal have now caught my eye, but I'm gonna try to resist 👀

Cadillacquer's thermals last well, but if you don't like the eggplant, I'll keep an eye out for that orchid with light blue flakes. I feel the same about Tropical Freeze not being green enough. I have three aqua shades alone sitting on my Night Owl shelf. I'm getting the Pokemon Aurora Beam - fairy move! I think it is supposed to be "kin" to the glass line. I'll put a Night Owl milky base under it. I'm telling myself I don't need a third dark and moody deep purple with gold shimmer like Royal Pain in the Butt, but I do appreciate the inspiration of that annoying ad! I like the Sassy Cats, too.

i actually do still have one of their PPU thermals from a few years ago which I’m glad still does transition! but i was saying i actually LOVE the eggplant color lol the orchid base + blue flakes actually ended up reminding me of a What’s Up Nails thermal i tried last year! so i technically already have half of the polish 🤣 and yeah i was also thinking i could just layer Aurora Beam over a pink milky base, but i idk if i can justify that and Ethereal when they’re both so similar 🙈 i guess i could also layer Ethereal over a base too haha and oh wow i missed that reference with Royal Pain, that’s actually so funny! 😂

The ones that caught my eye were Star Fragments by Polished for Days, I really enjoyed playing ACNH and I really want to pick up that one and Glisten & Glow’s Mabel Sable Label. I think both shades are so pretty. Yoshiii by Pahlish is also calling to me. No! Not Rainbow Road by Dam Nail Polish is another calling to me, I absolutely love Mariokart, especially when I was a child I would play with my dad a lot so that feels very nostalgic to me also

I really recommend giving Stardew Valley another try. Even though the clock goes fast, you can play for as many days, as many years as you want, so you never miss out on anything. It's one of my favorite games ever!

What I'm definitely picking up this month is Cuticula's Portal! Very unique for me and really captures the essence of the game. I totally agree with you! As a gamer myself, I feel like the makers were a bit too surface level with their inspirations this month even accounting for many not being too into games. Those that got the assignment got it and those that didn't played it too safe and it shows. Also, some of the inspirations I noticed aren't even specifically "video game" themed 😮‍💨

I didn't know thermals could die! I added Swamp Gloss Lennnny! (light activated), Krisable Designs Kevin for King (I think I am 100% going to grab this one) and Chameleon Nails Cortana (thermal). I guess when it comes to the thermal/light activated polishes I should make sure I like the the base state if it may be what I'm left with. I want to thank you for being realistic with your wish list. When I saw your March PPU video I thought you'd fill your cart with almost everything but the fact that you only buy what you'll use, look at the price for the amount of polish, it's refreshing :)

they can take some years, like Cadillacquer thermals do actually last quite a while, i have one from 2020-2021 ish and it still transitions, just a tiny bit weaker! but i dont think i wear thermals often enough to justify buying them anymore 🙈 i think if the warm color was like a deeper blue or something i would DEF be getting it lol! but oh the light activated ones are fun too!! yeah as long as you like both transitions/colors i think you’re safe hehe. and aw thank you!! i’m glad you enjoy how picky i am with my wishlist vids hehe 😝🤗

That is a cute top😊 Atomic “Horizon”, BKL “Queen of Rot”- (The By Danny Viana “Lemmings” reminds me of the Vanessa Molina one I got from PPU last year; I also like the Ethereal “Careful, I Bite” but I think I have one like that already) -Jior Couture “Game On” ( it is really different!) Indie by Patty Lopes “Butterfly Effect”, Jen & Berries “ Valley Girl” (it does look so different in other lighting😕), Watcha “Pass Me the Joystick” are my favorites of this PPU, but I must admit, nothing made my heart stop like previously.

i love playing video games on my free time and i have to agree i was pretty let down by the selection overall. i feel like either the references were too obscure or the final product wasn't really executed well IMO. one brand that has been consistently impressing me though is cuticula, they're becoming a fast favorite for me for sure.

I really love looking at all the polishes on offer but I never buy from PPU. It seems like a great trend and formula watch. I have been looking at thermals but I just don’t trust their lifespan. I have been staying away from magnetic polishes as well. I am too lazy. I do love goblin core and fantasy tropes and high contrast shimmer and jelly sandwiches. My collection is getting a bit saturated. Thank you for sharing your critique and window shopping with us ❤

i’m glad you enjoy just window shopping!! yeah i find myself being more picky (despite wanting to get ~4 polishes lol) and yeah i’ve seen a lot of people say they’re over magnetic polishes! they really can be so time consuming, especially if you’re doing a full 10 finger mani 😵‍💫 hehe i’m glad you’re into goblincore, there’s def a time & place for it for me personally but it can be fun 😝

Love the I Suck polish but not purchasing it. I have Cupcake just because I sometimes like a cutie polish for b’day parties for my nieces. They always get a kick out of my manis. I’m also getting the Monarch. Those shifts are irresistible! Thanks for sharing! Very enjoyable!❤

My wishlist is pretty small. I'm actually a little bummed that there was no Spryo or Crash Bandicoot inspiored polishes since those were the ones that I played as a kid. I only have Great Lakes Lacquer's Hand Hugs from Hell and Sassy Cat Lacquer's Seaside Kingdom on my wishlist. I'm going back and forth on adding the stamping plate from Apipila. I have another plate from them that I had a hard time picking off images off since it's so small and finely etched. I'm also not that skilled at stamping, so I don't know if I should pass on this one.

It's interesting to see your list that's also somewhat influenced by spring/summer. 🤭 Since I went too crazy last month, I'm trying to shop smarter this time around and only tempted by the KBShimmer sugar scrub cus I only get sugar scrubs from their brand anyway. I've also decided to pass on the sheers cus I'm trying to talk myself into appreciating the sheers that I have. 🥺 The other thing I initially wanted to get was the dappen dish cus I think it would make my clean up process more convenient, but I just checked and it's out again! 😭

I’m in love with the GPL & By Vanessa Molina which almost seem like the same polish but one is magnetic, one isn’t. Then the Swamp Gloss bc I like the shifts & I want to try a solar., but it might get axed. I was super tempted by the Sassy Cats, but decided to wait till Etheral rereleases Matcha Cloud which they are at some point this year. I got the BKL, MYBP hoping like you to scratch that Phoenix Boulba itch and I was disappointed, it’s so sheer it looks grey/green not that springy/celery green I’m looking for. I’ve seen tons of swatch photos of Matcha Cloud that I’m fairly certain it’s got what I’m looking for, but I’m tempted by the SC.

those are beautiful!! and can definitely see the similarity btwn the intense blue shimmer/sparkle 💙✨ and oh i didn’t realize the Swamp Gloss was a solar polish, that’s so cool! but yeah i imagine they night have the same lifespan as thermals more or less? and ahh i didn’t know Ethereal was going to re release Matcha Cloud! i think i saw someone on reddit compare it to Phoenix’s Boolba and it was surprisingly similar (surprising to me since i missed the early Ethereal -Cloud hype lol). but ugh yeah i did consider BKL’s MYBP too, but figured it was too sheer and not same kinda green, i’m sorry you were disappointed in it 😔 but omg,, i just looked up a swatch of Matcha Cloud to refresh my memory, and i feel like it reminds me of Cirque’s Mermaid Grotto from last year?? but i think Ethereal is a bit more pastel.. i haven’t worn Mermaid Grotto in a while so i might need to pull that out to scratch that green w blue shimmer itch! 👀

@@PolishedYogi ohhhh, I just went and dug out Mermaid Grotto, and I don’t need the SC. I’ve also decided against the SG, but I’m keeping an eye on her & the Kathleen & co sites to find a solar. There was a discussion last month in the K&co group about solars and a couple of people said they have some that still work that are 4-5 years old, so they seem to stay responsive longer that thermals. I don’t buy thermals due the combo of nail length & shelf life.

I was unsure about it due to the swatches on PPU, but her live swatches sold me 😊 I simply must buy Wanna WooHoo because I have feels for purple jelly bases with reddish shimmer. yeah if i’m not mistaken the first photo is hers right? i do love her swatches of it! but i read this great bit of advice to judge a polish based off the “worst” swatch photo to determine if you should buy it or not, and I don’t love how flat it looks in other lighting 🙈 but I’m glad you’re convinced and will be grabbing it this weekend! and hahaha so glad you also lovee the purple base + red shimmer combos!! the majority of the ones in my collection are on the darker side, i don’t think i have one quite like Wanna Woohoo so it looks super unique to me! you’re gonna love it 😍 but glad you enjoyed my picks this month!! ☺️

no worries at all! and omg yeah i saw that whole fiasco too.. it’s so crazy they were trying to say the complaints were just about natural batch variances, like some of those comparisons looked like two totally different polishes! 😬 i wish they would add more into in the listings about the swatch photos too, like what base coat are they using, how many coats, what kind of lighting etc.

They could totally make a base color with each launch and then say we use these together but they just don't. And if you look at the photos, it's clear something is being used. Idk. The magnetic top coat is basically polish thinner. You paint all layers of your magnetic, let it fully dry, use the topper-magnetize and then use your top coat and magnetize. I bought it last month. I still think you get a better result magnetizing at least one of your layers before you use the top coat, and you have to use a QDTC bc the polish gets sticky. HOWEVER you can use it to refresh your magnetics. Like a day or two days later. Put it on, use magnet, end with a qdtc and magnet. I also found using drying drops as I'm holding the magnet after a min on my QDTC actually really helps. It might not be perfect, but it looks good and it only takes maybe 10 min long than a regular manicure. Which for me, makes my magnetics was more approachable

yes exactly lol! those 3 are all pretty similar. i wish they included general number of coats the swatchers used too, i still think Lumen is the most sheer of the 3 but generally they have the same amount of sparkle? it’s so hard to tell! 🙈

@@PolishedYogi Yes! Telling us the # of coats would be great. I bought Phoenix Boolba and on me it was see through in 4 coats and not even the same color, kinda had a weird yellow/ green undertone. So I really am not sure when I see photos now. 😂 Thank you for helping me narrow it down.

I went back and forth on the Lumen and Ethereal too, but came to the same conclusion as you to leave the Ethereal on and take the Lumen off. I have 1 polish from Lumen and it was so sheer that it was kind of disappointing. I love the Pokemon inspo, but I like the pearliness of the Ethereal more.

I am also disappointed this month because I really like video games, but the references are so nonspecific and hardly anyone shares which visuals from the game are represented in the polish. Overall, I'm just starting to get really frustrated with how uninspired the makers seem to be with a LOT of the PPU themes. I get so excited for the potential inspiration and references and then some makers barely connect their offerings with the monthly theme.
