Such a nice lot of postcards! I liked everything, but especially the bee postcard from Basil, the hedgehog cards, the nice stamp covered envelope from Vera (including a hedgehog stamp) and the story of Tom Kruse and his postcard was also interesting. Thanks for the nice video, Rob.

Your mail days are always fun to watch .... glad that my postcard reached you in good time and you liked it as well. The bee postcard was a set of three different bee species postcards released on World Bee Day last month along with the cancellation. The attendees at the event were given a pleasant surprise of a bottle of honey each which I in turn gave it to my mom who loves honey.

Lots of great postcards today. I like the one that Smokey sent of the Texaco gas pumps. And I'm assuming that your neighbors have a small child or grandchild because that Little Tikes car is always in the driveway. I'll bet it gets good mileage like your new EV.😂

Herring salad is a super thing! We call this salad "Herring under a fur coat". It is laid out in layers from different ingredients. But I don't know what kind of herring salad Vera has))

Hi Olya, this the way I like it: Herring fillets housewife style: 😉 250 g herring fillets in oil 2 white onions 2 tart apples (e.g. Royal Gala) 2 large gherkins 500 g sour cream 2 tbsp mayonnaise 2 tsp spicy mustard salt Pepper, freshly ground 1 bunch dill Drain the herring fillets and cut into strips about 1 cm wide. Peel the onions and cut into thin strips. Peel and quarter the apples, remove the cores and cut into thin slices. Cut the cucumbers into small cubes. Mix the herrings with the onions, apples and gherkins, mix the sour cream and mayonnaise and stir in. Season with mustard, salt and pepper. Wash the dill and toss to dry. Put a few dill tips to one side, finely chop the rest and stir into the herrings. Cover and chill for about 1 hour. I leave out the dill, I don't like it! Delicious with roast potatoes.

Thank you for sharing your recipe))) our salad is made differently :) salted herring fillet - 500 g carrots - 500 g beets - 500 g potatoes - 500 g onions - 200 g mayonnaise - 200 g hard-boiled eggs - 2 pcs. green onions for decoration salt - to taste freshly ground black pepper - to taste Prepare the vegetables for the classic herring under a fur coat. Heat the oven to 190°C. Wash the carrots, beets and potatoes thoroughly with a brush. Wrap the unpeeled vegetables separately in foil. Place the bundles on a baking sheet and bake for 50 minutes. Unfold the foil and let the vegetables cool completely. Peel the vegetables and cut into cubes. You can also grate it on a coarse grater. Distribute it among separate containers. Season with mayonnaise, salt and pepper to taste. Peel and chop the onion very finely. Place it in a colander and pour boiling water over it to remove the bitterness. If desired, you can pour lemon juice over the chopped onion, leave for 5 minutes, then place it on a paper towel and dry it. First, cut the herring fillet into long strips, then into small cubes, removing any small bones that may be present. In a transparent salad bowl or portioned salad bowls, layer the onion, herring, potatoes, carrots and beets. If necessary, repeat the layers. Holding a fine grater over the top layer of beets, grate the hard-boiled eggs. Cover the top of the salad bowl(s) with cling film and refrigerate for 2 hours. Garnish the chilled herring under a fur coat with sliced ​​green onions or chopped herbs.
