Hey Jenna, veteran barber of 10 years here. Just wanted to say that you actually did SO well. Surprisingly well. Seriously. You're very obviously innately gifted with doing hair, whether you agree or not.. A low bald fade like Julie has is no joke. It is one of THE hardest men's cuts out there. I've seen countless trained stylists and barbers LITERALLY not even do nearly half as well as you did. Next time you guys try, do exactly as you did here. After you put your line in with no guard and then blend it up with the blade all the way open, you can then go in between the two sections with the blade lever half open. Or anywhere in between open and closed to adjust the blade length to go from shortest to longest. You can actually do this with any guard to blend out lines as needed. Vic the barber/timeless barber on youtube has some INCREDIBLE tutorials you can look into as well. He goew really in depth on blending out the tricky lines between a 0 and a 1 guard. And if you somehow see this and run into any issues or have any questions the next time you cut Julian's hair, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. I love teaching and mentoring barbering skills. But for real, I've been following your channel for the last 10 years and you've done more for me than you could ever know, so helping you cut Julien's hair would be the least i could do to repay you for the years of joy and entertainment you've given me💛

Okay girl I’m a hairdresser here’s some tips! For the fade you need to rock or scoop the machine out to create the blending for you! Going in at 90 degrees will create a shelf and will be harder to blend out! For the top make sure not to cut past your second knuckle as it will create uneven dips, and you will most definitely cut your skin. You’ve got it good with starting in the back for the top. Take the first cut you made and follow it all the way to the front creating a 1/2 inch- 1 inch Mohawk parting ( | | ). Then stand to the side of his head and follow your first cut all the way through making it to the bangs, making sure your only cutting the guide you made with the Mohawk parting. Stand behind the head Then make a center part (this should split the guide evenly on each side) and starting in the front take 1 inch horizontal sections. Your guide will be in the middle, follow the guide to the rounds of the head. You will be bring the hair 90 degrees from where it grows meaning as you move to the rounds of the head you will be taking off more because we are trying to lessen the density of hair on the sides for a nice blend. Hopefully this helps!

PROFESSIONAL ADVICE!: With fading, I feel like going longest to shorter guard and working your way down is much easier than the reverse. I feel like I can get a much cleaner fade. Don’t go around with the head shape, keep your clippers straight up. Blending the guards is also easier if you go in little circles with the clippers instead of up and down. Really gets that line GONE tho 👌 Up and out, not up and in, and that will help with the blend.

Nobody can judge the haircut when he literally moves every second. My fiancé does that too. I recommend getting thinning scissors for the top because it blends the hair. I cut men’s hair at a 45 degree angle and go into a 90 degree angle. But for someone who’s never taken classes you’ve got skill!
